Hmmmm..so the new KS servers UP/DOWN are 300mb
Old KS servers are 100 UP and 1G DOWN
They said no change in old and cannot change..
So which is better?
If that where old sys servers, they use the same config, so IPMI and IPs are available, but maybe getting removed.
Just picked up a KS-1 and it's getting gig down, 300 up - wonder if it'll change in future🤔
Do you have yabs with connectivity results?
Is that in Canada DC?
Their DC is just a mess i guess, no time to disconnect an old machine and connect it to another port or do some software configuration i guess. Technicians' working hours cost money
Probably no. Somewhere on this forum in the past months there was an info that stated that OVH provide Gbps (max port speed) download and limited upload speeds on the Eco range. I did not remember well that is it posted by a member of OVHCloud team or an OVHCloud user cited a support ticket but it does not matter. The conclusion is that Gbps download will not throtled and if it happens you can ask the support to check the situation.
Does anyone have experience in installing a custom platform, which seems possible now on Kimsufi ? Is it possible to install from an ISO ?
Thanks
ISO was possible on the old range too. You can run Qemu from the rescue system and attach the ISO and HDD(s)/SSD(s).
Hi, just seeking an advice:
Have:
1 x Mini PC 512GB SSD, 16GB, N100, 500Mbps, 20TB hard disk. WINDOWS 11 PRO.
2 x KS2 Kimsufi, 900 GB(450x2) SSD, 32GB, Xeon 1540. UBUNTU 24.04
Want:
The Mini PC as a Plex Server only for 1080p content. The Kimsufi for downloading content and ffmpeg encoding 24/7 and sending the supposely 10GB- sized files to the MINI PC.
Once the 20TB is full, automatic erase the oldest files.
Is it suitable the hardware for this task?
.
Which software tools are better for this task?
Xeon 1540 will choke
Mmm, really?
People claims they get good results cost efective.

I am not looking for hundreds, i have also plenty of time.
Or WhatsApp do you mean? I though h264 codec via x264 was ok
you mentioned you’ll be encoding down to 1080p with sizes of 10GB, which is a pretty high bitrate for a 10yr old xeon, unless you dont need them done quickly?
@Rubytux why not just download appropriately sized content others have spent the compute to encode?
Oh, i understand. Actually i dont have requirements of time. But also, i am looking for good enough. Like Netflix or Prime quality. Usually 5GB? Just said 10GB as the max a movie can have in size.
Yeah, i even have a Streamfab license. But i am a 40 yo bookeeper turned software developer, just graduated of a minor, and i know i have a lot to learn.
I am looking this also as a way to leart stuff. The Streamfab license does pretty much this for me. But my brain would be empty.
thanks,
I am aware of that and did it in the past, but it still would be a lot easier if there just was a way to upload an iso and install from there
A KS-A would be better since it should have an IGPU for encoding. Welcome to the queue!
So has anyone added additional IP to the new KS and can confirm that it is possible?
There are questions regarding the Ip Address and bandwidth on Old and New Kimsufi Servers.
Able to get order ipv4 for NEW KS server (KS-4)
Old Servers are still 100 up / 100 or 1G down.
New server was first 250Mb then a day later it became 300up/300down.

KS-LE-1
KS-4 | Intel Xeon-E3 1230 v6
Hardware encoding is not apreciated unless strictly an emergency. x264 is really praised.
Just in case i need hardware encoding with the iGPU. The N100 has a 12 gen iGPU and QSV motor. It even works with AV1.
hardware encoding is for realtime transcoding and it looks the part
Had one of two orders cancelled randomly, so spoke to someone at OVH, and they pretty much confirmed what we all expected was going to happen. Apparently, the DC(s?) have requested all the orders to be cancelled because of the stock. I did ask if it was possible to keep an order despite not caring about the wait, to which they obviously said no, so I'm expecting the second one to be cancelled in the coming days.
