@Francisco why would the migration tool not allow this, given Directadmin usernames are deterministic given on the domain?

"Remote username matches local reseller username. Please contact support for assistance."

Because we will end up with a reseller with 200 sub accounts losing everything because they overwrote their parent account with some other random one.

If you need to do that you can ticket and we can pull that backup and assist.

Are you able to instead change the username with a ticket?

We can't change the username of a reseller w/o nuke & remake.

If we pull an account backup we can rename it before import.

  • Fran will take care of it.
I too faced similar problem of username matching while import/migration.
He assisted me quickly, and everything was sorted then. B)

  • Not sure if I understand the problem with the DA migration tool, but should I assume that if I try to migrate from another DA host and there is an issue, support would help me?

Yeah we can help with migrations if needed. There are a few hosts that disable the DA backup functions - which the migration tool uses - so in those cases you'll have to go ask them for a backup and then upload it to your account and ticket us to restore.

@NameCrane Are resellers deployed in different servers than shared? I ask because shared plans mention a 5Ghz+ CPU and DirectAdmin tells me it's running on AMD Ryzen 9 7900 at 3699.982 MHz.

The difference of 5 vs 3.7 is quite noticeable on wordpress

Everything turbo's, it just won't list on that CPU chart. We could play with 'always on performance mode' to see if it makes any difference, but things have benched well.

SG's ready to go, waiting on Mike's go ahead. Spamexperts inbound filtering also got released... for free :)

From my own experience using 'always on performance mode' with Ryzen makes a difference for better in WordPress.

We'll poke at it then :) Might require a reboot to tweak some BIOS settings, but if you have a benchmark we can confirm this on, i'm game.

We'll be taking the 'Directadmin 2 Directadmin' option in the Migration Center offline for 24 hours, starting in around 8 hours. This is to upgrade it to better integrate with our new Directadmin DNS clustering to handle internal transfers better.

The underlying issue is that when a user moves users between locations, the DNS entries don't get updates to point to the new server as they already exist in the cluster. We coded our own implementation of Directadmin's DNS clustering that will allow us to flag certain domains as 'in migration'. This will allow the DNS to be taken over by the new server when the restore completes.

EDIT - To explain further. This issue only happens if you use the migration center, since the migration center does not remove the user once the backup is transferred. If you do a manual transfer (create backup, copy backup, remove user, restore backup on new server) you probably won't run into this problem. That completely defeats the purpose of the migration center though :)

    Thanks!

The Migration Center upgrades were done quick, around 6 hours total.

that would be good if DA displays full 5 GHz core speed. Because as reseller I advertised 5 GHz, and customer found out it was 3699 MHz speed and was asking me why speed is not 5. I had to ping Namecrane here in another thread about it. So 5 GHz on performance mode will be great to show in DA panel.

@nqservices said: From my own experience using 'always on performance mode' with Ryzen makes a difference for better in WordPress.

Yeah... it have had it on Myw, Hostbrr and few other providers full performance mode.

@luissousa said: The difference of 5 vs 3.7 is quite noticeable on wordpress

If you going to benchmark, then do share the results. I will benchmark it. there are some WP plugins and also by mere loading speed (disabling all caches) can feel the difference. But I'm mostly interested in "numbers" than "feel".

I have no idea. I code and build hardware. I have no real say in how He does sales and gave him full run of our war chest.

I’m sure He has lots in mind given the addition of spamexperts and SG. Couple that with the performance and other awesome features and we are excellent value.

I've no clue how to benchmark it  , but agree that's actually the ultimate sane thing to do.
It didn't affect the actual website as it's fully cached by Cloudflare and everything else, but the admin side'd been quite slower, like if it was hosted on AWS lambda and having cold starts.

Now, it could also be nothing to do with CPU and actually in how redis is configured, as I have it on.

It seems to have gotten better though, did you tweak anything @Francisco?
