No more Atom boxes and now 1st Gen Epyc in Kimsufi I'd never thought the day would come

    :p garbage material

Please explain how the single core performance of the Intel i7-6700k with 64GB of DDR4 and an SSD with reportedly sometimes at least unmetered gigabit (IPv6) bandwidth for €4.99 is garbage

It's not environment friendly, CPU is 10 years old, the RAM is nice I have to admit, SSD nothing special. You don't get 1gbit it's 100mbit upstream. Also the OVH bandwidth is not constant. I stay far away from OVH. Actual in the past 10 years ago they had great offers now they only sell old hardware. With a nice VPS from here I think you can have better performance and better connectivity.

It’s the OVH lottery. Often, IPv6 is gigabit

I seriously don’t think you can find a VPS from a reliable company with the same Geekbench CPU performance, 64GB DDR4 RAM & hundreds of GB’s of SSD with unmetered bandwidth and dedicated cores for €5

    Please prove me wrong

true .... I had 10 gig up/down on ipv6 in France DS for few months before they "fixed" it

There are limitations for SyS component age. 6700K was kept and moved to under Kimsufi since it was still too good to be disposed into e-waste bin.

Maybe they kept it as half promotion and half serious offer.

As for electricity, they might have offer for X amount of kWh instead of €/kWh.

    Sounds like OVH

  • Does anybody want to transfer it out? (if you don't need it obviously)

  • I'm interested as well.

  • OVHCloud US :/

I just have to accept the fact that I'll never get the KS-A or KS-1 It's a futile endeavor.

Can anyone here confirm , ( for "kimsufi" plans/deals KS-A / KS-1 ) does OVHcloud support IPv6 /48 BGP-Sessions/Announcement or not ? and what is the fee for IPv6-subnet BGP setup ? or BGP Sessions/Announcement setup is free for IPv6-subnet ?

btw, their BYOIP does not allow IPv6-subnet : see in bottomside of FAQ here

WARNING : OVHcloud KS-1 / USA , the Intel Atom N2800 CPU do NOT have any "AES-NI" (for cryptographic data processing in hardware) , do NOT have "VT-x" (virtualization, nested-virtualization), etc.
If you do not need them, then its not a warning for you.

    Does OVHcloud have any restrictions on Email/Mail/SMTP/Port-25 usage in KS-A / KS-1 type server's IPv4 / IPv6 address ?

By the way , in KS-1 / USA , the Intel Atom N2800 do NOT have any "AES-NI", do NOT have "VT-x".

You can announce IPs for free now, but not on Kimsufi/SoYouStart servers, from what I recall from asking them 2-3 months ago on their US branch. I don't know about BGP.

I asked them an hour earlier, & still waiting for their response.

i'm assuming they dont allow BGP-Sessions/Announcement for IPv6 subnet ( as BYOIP for IPv6-subnet not-allowed ) ... but lets see whats their response

in (Asia KS-A) order page , it selects yearly payment by default , and some data still shows "/month" or "monthly" !!
and setup fee suppose to be $5 or $6 ... but it shows entire 1 year's fee as setup fee !!

    UPDATE:

    GOT RESPOND FROM OVHCLOUD ...

    IPv6-Subnet BGP Sessions / Announcement is NOT-Supported.
    IPv6-subnet BYOIP is NOT-supported.
    ( IPv4-subnet ... is supported ).

    Kimsufi series server will+can have 1 IPv4 & 1 IPv6 address ... initially.
More IPv4 can be added later.
No IPv6 can be added later.
No network-port is blocked. (So Email/SMTP/Port-25, etc all allowed).
No VNC , but supports loading ISO via IPMI/vKVM & its usage is free.

  • The only KS-A available seem to be in Sydney, with a 72-hour delay. Best regards to our Australian friends ;)

  • The 4.99 plan looks yummy.

  • Australia show 53 ! And KS-A out of stock.

55 EUR is near the price that OVH sell this package :D

  • I was referring to the KS-1. In the OP's link, it is €16.99. On the link I posted, it is $18.80.
