Contabo Nuremberg Datacenter Down

Since 8:00 AM GMT+1 this morning, the Contabo Nuremberg datacenter has been down due to cooling system failures.

So far, no ETA for the resolution has been provided. Contabo has only been issuing hourly updates, which essentially just tell us to wait for the next update.

If you're also affected, it seems we're in for a potentially long w0284f03b840c04227b888ea5a1e9&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=1003&height=666 "")
ait. I'll keep an eye on the situation and share any new information as it becomes available.

Event the main admin web panel has also been down since 8:00 AM with reaperances :

Contabo used to be my default choice for vps. I wonder if it will be next time i rent a new vps ?

  • It is indeed the first time they had such a long downtime, looks serious enough though. Have some stuff hosted with them and so far I'm one of the lucky clients with close to zero issues, hopefully they'll restore services soon enough.

if customer asks for refund = change the TOS so that you can show it as reason for denial of refund.

The reliability of their VPS can vary significantly depending on the datacenter and, i guess, even the specific room it’s located in. I've experienced near-perfect uptime with some of my hosting, while others suffer from almost weekly downtime.

  • Dear Customer,
On the early morning of September 2nd, 2024, our data center in Nuremberg experienced a disruption. Due to high temperatures and a storm, lightning struck the data center, damaging both the primary and secondary connections to our cooling system. As a result,
    • Some servers in Nuremberg were not reachable
    • Placing new orders was not possible
    • Our customer support was not able to receive or answer to tickets
    • Accessing the Customer Control Panel was unavailable
    • Object Storage in the EU was inaccessible
The cooling system is now restored, and we are working to bring all servers back online soon. We will continue to provide regular updates on our status page at contabo-status.com.
Due to the impact on our ticketing system, all tickets were automatically closed. If your issue was not related to this outage and if the issue persists, please reply to this email, and we will reopen your ticket and assist you as soon as possible.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Agreed, I've only had an issue a couple of years ago and they responded right away to the ticket and have been good ever since. Fingers crossed this doesn't change lol and there won't be such a long maintenance anytime soon.

Was this a response to a ticket? Because I cannot see the "restored" part on their status page yet.

We would like to inform you that our technicians are continuing to work diligently on fully resolving the issue. Below is the list of the affected services:

    • Some servers may be unreachable.
    • Accessing the Customer Control Panel might be unavailable.
    • Object Storage in the EU may be inaccessible.

Updates regarding the issue will follow shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Tried to access thru their panel to start up?

  • I think your problem is a different problem from the one that is the subject of this thread. The first one has long been closed. What I can say is that Contabo have had many other problems with the services we host on their servers and we are in the process of removing as many services from their network as we can, and the sooner the better.

    Thanked by 1xms
