Yeah and if you read Russian media, everytime a Russian gets imprisoned for who knows what in the US they get portrayed the same way. This is just how news media works, people inherently believe that their country's way of handling things is correct and that any other country is wrong.
I'm not sure why this is surprising or interesting to anyone -- the golden rule to follow is to not do stupid shit in foreign countries, simple as that.
Hmm, in Russian culture, Jews are just Jews. Russians are Russians, Ukrainians are Ukrainians or hohol (nothing wrong with that word).
In Russia, this is not considered a swear word, and we don't use it as a negative argument.
And I didn't mean to imply that his religiosity was negative, a Jewish boy could be religious or non-religious - I only meant that he was a Jewish boy and that meant he was well-educated, talented, hardworking, and always found successful compromises. This has been part of Jewish culture for millennia, and there's nothing wrong with that.
We differ from leftist Western cultures, where people try to avoid mentioning a person's nationality, citizenship, or gender. Leftists see people as abstract units without gender, nationality, or race, so they oppose mentioning any of these things.
If leftists like it so much, let them live by these rules. But we will never obey them.
Yes. If I had come to the USA, I would know that using a word starting with an "n" is not in accordance with etiquette. The same applies if I post something on an American forum. I must respect the local laws and mentality.
I am far from being a leftist, perhaps quite the opposite.; I still fail to see why mention someone's religion? Did you say that Durov was a nice little Orthodox Christian boy?? Even by your own criteria, you say "without gender, nationality, or race", you don't mention religion. Please stop trying to play stupid with me, you know exactly what I mean, and this conversation is over.
I am unsure what you mean with religious. Point me where i say anything about religious of Zuckerberg? I suspect that this is result of miscommunication. I call him as jewish what was wrong with that? Durov is russians, what wrong with that?
In reply to: Even by your own criteria, you say "without gender, nationality, or race", you don't mention religion.
No problem. I have nothing against adding religion to the list either.
Generally, I am far from any religion because I am "homo sovieticus" and such people are atheists. Therefore, I don't classify or separate people by their religion.
i hope for your sake youre just pretending to be this dumb because if you actually were as dumb as you sound i cant imagine how difficult making a cup of tea is for you
Just a friendly reminder that you don't have "laws" in your country. Your justice system is a joke.
Guys, if you don't know Russian, it's not a reason to call you stupid. Believe me, calling someone Jewish in Russian absolutely doesn't have any negative connotation. Maybe in English it looks different, I don't know.
You just did. Stop it now. You understand exactly what I meant, again, don't act like suddenly your English has deteriorated. Religion is not a gender, it is not a nationality, it is not a race. And adding 'harmless' and 'boy' to it gives it a total different context. Enjoy...
You act like a white man in Africa. Why, on earth, would you rate our justice as lacking? Did Biden tell you that? For example, I won the case in our court against the pension fund without much difficulty.
this isnt russia thankfully. you acknowledge that calling someone a jew in the west is problematic yet also justify being problematic by saying you are russian. what is your goal?
im from africa and want to ask what the fuck are you saying? like honestly. what the fuck are you even trying to say?
Jews are an ethnoreligious group. It's not wrong to refer to them as an ethnic group.

I don't need any excuses. I said what I said and I don't think it could have offended Zuckerberg or any other Jew in any way. Perhaps you perceive it differently, but I don't see anything wrong with a person being proud of their nationality, country, or religious, or education, for example.
@rustelekom , you got a warning already, don't push it.
Well, leave it as is. But what you think about Zuckerberg confession? I guess facts which he publish must be a reason to open multiply case in american courts is not be?
Thank you.
It could be. The timing is kind of strange, but these things are usually more complicated than they appear.
I am try to explain that people who don't live in Russia must do not claim that justice in Russia is not exist. It looks like an attempt to imagine that they have some kind of right to judge others. This is similar to the behavior of colonial countries in Africa (and not only there). We have our own idea of justice and don't need outside advice.
Yes, the timing seems strange, and many people have noticed this. He didn't say anything new; everyone guessed about this pressure, although it has always been denied, but why he says it now is unclear.
Back on the subject, we learn in the WSJ that Durov met Macron several times. before he received the French citizenship. Here's the link to an article from Le Monde on the same subject (behind a paywall) : https://www.lemonde.fr/pixels/article/2024/08/28/pavel-durov-le-pdg-de-telegram-arrete-en-france-a-rencontre-emmanuel-macron-a-plusieurs-reprises-avant-d-obtenir-la-nationalite-francaise_6297617_4408996.html
It looks like Macron still uses Telegram.
I haven't had time to read both articles fully, I will soon.
According to French (famous) investigation newspaper "Canard enchaîné", upon his arrest, Durov told the police that he came to meet Macron and that he was expected... According to the presidency, this is a lie, and Macron was not in Paris on that evening.
I don't know if it's true, but I heard that France has put Nikolai Durov on a wanted list (he's a math genius who designed all the internal code for Telegram).
If this were happening in Russia, I am sure that accusations would have already been made against Russia for using the arrest of Pavel Durov's brother to put pressure on Nikolai Durov.
But let's see what the judge will decide. (Today is the last day Durov might remain arrested without a court order.)
But let's not forget that Le Canard enchaîné is a satirical newspaper
Why are the CEOs of all Weapons manufacturers not arrested?
Do you have a reliable reference for this?
Is it a crime to sharpen a stone?
in france yes
Not yet, but I heard also that a court order was issued in March by the city court of Paris. I think we need to wait for officials. There is too much speculation now.
Interesting, there is no specularions about app it-self. Does it compromised or on any other way tampered with
They are a satirical newspaper in the sense that they use humor and sarcasm, but they don't make up stuff, their information is always verified.
