Alternatives to Oracle Cloud free tier for students without credit cards?

Hello LowEndTalk community,

I'm a student looking to gain hands-on experience with cloud services, but I'm facing challenges signing up for Oracle Cloud's free tier due to credit card requirements. Are there any cloud providers or VPS options suitable for students without credit cards? I'm particularly interested in:

  • Providers with student-friendly sign-up processes
  • Free or very low-cost options for learning purposes
  • Any educational programs or resources you might recommend

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Maybe Azure for students or Digital Ocean in the GitHub student back.

    Good for lab and testing
Good for learning disaster recovery and failover
(Need to go to the other green forum for their deals since they have been banned here due to inconsistent services x)
(Never ever use in production lol)

    YouTube videos, free Udemy courses:

    Hi,

Feel free to send me a PM with your requirements and, ideally, proof of your studies. I'm happy to work something out to provide you with resources free of charge :)

you should ideally get a credit card for a credit score/renting purposes, but try azure(has free VPS renewable for a year each time as long as you pass student verification), ,google cloud free credits, amazon ec2(free 12 months), google f2(free forever), linode free credits, digital ocean free credits, vultr free credits, probably more I am forgetting.

  • If you want to learn cloud services like Google Cloud, you can use Cloud Boost. Apply for get credits here https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlecloudskillsbooststudenttrainingcreditsapplication/

I’m not sure that prepaid card will work on oracle cloud, but it’s definitely worth a try

I have 2 prepaid cards working with oracle, but I created my accounts many years ago, not sure if new registrations allow them

Depends on the card vender - a lot of companies code american express prepaid cards as credit because most people have no idea they even make prepaid cards and american express reloadable cards are not common at all anyways. Just little hack there.

There may also be regular debit bins. Usually the bin is indicated before ordering

    We offer Student friendly deals.

if you are able to provide proof that your a student, we can offer free hosting weather its a vps / web hosting ect, we all start somewhere & if we was in your shoes would of liked assistance at that time. if you pop us a direct message we can work with you on some free services after we verify the student status.
