DDoS-protected shared hosting for political site

It is not intended to be a site for hateful or intentionally controversial speech, but politics is politics, and you can expect someone to get upset. I want a provider who supports content and speech legal in the USA, regardless of political leaning. Ideally, should have US locations and/or good latency within the continental US.
I don't have strict resource requirements, but at least 10 GB disk is preferred.
I can do PayPal and credit card, in that order of preference. I would like cost to be less than $70/yr or $6/month.

3.5 tbps protection is impressive, but if I am understanding right, it is $36 per year extra? And it looks like that offer is for virtual servers, not the shared hosting thru Namecrane
Edit: Just saw that directadmin license comes with purchase. Could be a good deal, but the budget is tight if I want to go above 10 GB disk.

I am surprised all offers mention DDoS protection in Gbps, what about application layer (website) protection? I think it is important detail to consider

Just run behind Cloudflare and start blocking datacenter ASNs and in a couple of weeks you will have 95% if all the malicious traffic filtered out and can host anywhere.
not sure what Fran is using in the UK but i know BuyVM uses Path so i would expect hes kept with Path for Namecrane for the US & Lux.

We apply mitigation as needed for the time being. We don't have Path in every DC we operate in so we don't want to add incorrect marketing.
We've already applied some of our own mitigation in some locations.
