Archiving tool for social media posts

There are tools like https://archive.ph/ to archive webpages. Is there any such tool for social media?

  • Facebook
  • x.com (twitter)

Thanks in advance

The problem becomes, for facebook anyways, not every posting is visable to different users.

You could potentially use API access with your own account to copy the content you can see, but someone else will have different access.

I'm talking about public posts that anyone can see.

copying content is not the concern, rather using the archive as a reference for public consumption, in case the post is removed or edited etc.

  • This has become much harder after AI data scraping/training so companies actually try to stop you now. I would look into the archive teams site for wget scripts they have for specific websites and try to modify them for your use case. They usually have really good resources on arching specific sites.

    No.
Moreover, facebook and instagram will resist archiving aggressively.

No shekels must be lost due to some tools without facebook ads accessing zuckerberg's data.

Back in the days there was Bibliogram, but developer discontinued the project due to the FB's IP blocking: https://lists.sr.ht/~cadence/bibliogram-announce/<[email protected]>

For twitter there was Nitter: https://nitter.net/
But I'm unsure whether it was archiving anything. More likely just working as a front-end.
