Is there any point using a proxy/vpn to access crypto wallet?
I mean just using some basic proxy not tor or suchlike.
I don't mean to hide from doing big naughties where there would be large consequences but rather the less anyone knows the better. For general privacy and to hide from hackers or such to steal your coins. Could this be even worse since it could be a honeypot proxy and you don't know what data they are logging?
I am wanting to know how exposed you are not using any proxy to log in to your wallet. Is it like ssl where things will be encrypted such that a snooper cannot see what transactions are taking place?
Still though is it better to hide your IP so no one else knows where you are accessing you wallet from so they cannot try and compromise your home address? Is this even relevant when your ISP gives a dynamic IP anyway so it would be like being on a VPN wouldn't it?
Also if doing no other security would it be like web browsers where you can be IDed by your fingerprint? A wallet is not a browser though is it so is it different for footprinting?

Your wallet (should be) stored on your computer or personal vault of some kind.
If you are "logging into your wallet" I am concerned about your own security..
If you are keeping your funds at an exchange, you really shouldn't.... Keep your wallet yourself, transfer the amount for a transaction to an exchange as needed.

If you are paranoid and want to hide your home IP address, it makes sense to run a VPN every time you start your wallet. Imagine a theoretical scenario where local criminals monitor the traffic of your internet provider for BTC/ETH activities and then decide to visit you suddenly. In such a situation, using a VPN would help protect your identity and location.
