How does BuyVM Luxembourg protect your privacy (compared to USA)?
BuyVM doesn't ask for PII if you pay with crypto, so does the location only make a difference if you pay with card/bank? And how is the Luxembourg location better for privacy?
Based on this:
"We offer high privacy emphasis hosting in our Luxembourg location."

The country has strict laws to protect privacy and (real) journalists... mostly. They kinda shit the bed on that one when they went after some journalists years ago that exposed corruption. Crypto is also a solid way to pay if you have a Costco sized box of tinfoil. It's a popular location for TOR as well.
We've been in Luxembourg for almost 10 years now. Global policing laws have changed a lot since we built even this site, so things like the CLOUD act and then whatever backasswards shit the EU tries to implement every other year.
We still feel it's a good choice for privacy focused groups. Where as the USA is best for 'freedom of speech' groups.

Good thing I'm copping both, it seems!
I've head in US NSA is the guardian/keeper of privacy ๐
when you get court or police order in your company country, it does not matter where the server is.
e.g company is based in Canada, you get police or court order from Canadian court? You cannot ignore it because the server is located in Luxemburg. It does not matter in the end of day.
being ignorant is not an excuse, consult an lawyer and dont fall for false advertisement.
if you are doing something illegal, make sure to order from TOR and pay with Monero. Dont except provide will do shit to protect you. Protecting you and ignoring law enforcement means they are going to get raided and possibly jailed.
I love BuyVM, but this mightjust depend on who you want your privacy to be protected from.
As every US company must cooperate with law enforcement, hosting data in Luxembourg wonโt necessarily prevent government access. BuyVM, being a US-based company, falls under US jurisdiction, which affects matters related to data access and surveillance. Even a single login to BuyVM or the server without a VPN could expose your identity / data.
This situation highlights why the EU-US Privacy Shield, introduced by the EU, has faced multiple revisions and revocations. Companies cannot guarantee data protection, even for foreign individuals hosted in foreign countries. The bottom line: a US company implies US jurisdiction.
Free backups on all US servers (all providers) are stored in the Utah Data Center.

I didn't know it was a parody.
