please i need cheap recommendations

PlutackPlutack Member

I am backend developer who is looking to start poking into the work market. I am looking to get a vps that has a minimum 4gb ram and 50gb storage I think. The intention is to host coolify and and handle hosting of some of the projects i have worked on from there. I have tried services like vercel and render but I have had issues I don't want to deal with. so in anticipation of planning ahead, I am looking into this particular option as viable, I gain some cool knowledge all that exciting stuff.
Most payment options seem to be a year. I would be very much interested in something like a quarterly payment or maybe even monthly as I don't have much to drop at once
Thanks.

Keep an eye on this thread for the US location in particular. It's July 4th and there will be more deals coming today.

I know this is a weird answer for this question but It still the only one I am able to give.
I am looking for the cheapest option I can get .
Like whatever the cheap looks like

    Definitely not bothered by that.
Whole the initial offering here seem like something I can do. it is far from home. I am not sure if it is a huge no no though.i have had a few latency problem typing with ssh connecting to vps that are far in the past

That would probably be some bottom of the barrel Racknerd deal or something similar. Sure it's cheap but is it also performant/reliable? Not so much. It's not really possible to recommend something that's actually good value without knowing what you are able/willing to spend though.

I get what you are saying but how much performance/reliability deficiency am I really looking at if I may ask?
Remember I just want to just host a few projects that would probably be getting a few clicks for a junior role maybe even intern as getting a job is kind of difficult now according to word on the street , I feel I can skim on that a bit but then I guess what is worth doing is worth doing well to the best of one's ability at the very least.

That's hard to quantify. The question really is if a couple $/€ per month are worth choosing something that kind of works most of the time over something that works good pretty much all of the time.

    Anyways, here you go:

    $38/y: https://racknerdtracker.com/go.php?id=814
$35/y: https://racknerdtracker.com/go.php?id=806 (if you can get by with 38GB disk)
$28/y: https://racknerdtracker.com/go.php?id=155 (if you can get by with 3.5GB RAM and 45GB disk)

No, i certainly wouldn't buy any of those plans but they are cheap.

Not much of a loss anyways. These aren't probably half bad:

Still not my favorites but oh well. Layer7 has a pretty good reputation (not that much cheaper - at least when paying monthly - than going straight for Hetzner and it's probably not exactly brand new hardware either though). Colocrossing's VPS have had quite a couple bad reviews regarding data loss lately but it's probably the cheapest offer you'll find right now and at least it's a pretty old company that won't go poof over night.

I pretty much agree with you. It's just OP wanting to go for the cheapest of the cheap. As long as he can settle for 40GB disk Hetzner would have him covered at 4.51€/m no further thinking required but oh well...

Agreeing with the others here, EU VPS should be fine.

I'd recommend going with Layer7 France. Their monthly plans start at 3-4 EUR, and it looks like their connectivity to Northern Africa is decent, so you shouldn't be facing any SSH lag.

Yeah and what little there is locally will almost safely not fit OP's cheap requirement.

    Like https://zappiehost.com/south-africa-linux-vps-servers at a not-so-cheap $19/m or even https://portal.binaryracks.com/order/vps/149 at $25/m ;)

  • Thanks to everyone so far. I will take my time looking through all the options suggested here to find a decent landing spot.

    IPv6 only:

    HostBrr — $3.50 / month
    2 Ryzen Cores (shared)
    4096 MB RAM
    60 GB NVMe
    7500 GB/month bandwidth
    1.0 Gbps port speed
    IPv6
    Germany

    IPv4:

    Layer7 — €3.28 / month
    2 Intel Cores (shared)
    8192 MB RAM
    80 GB NVMe
    25600 GB/month bandwidth
    1.0 Gbps port speed
    IPv4 + IPv6
    Germany

They both drop ~30% with longer payment.
I pre-configured the aff pony search engine with your request; you can change location and specification.

    @dev_vps - THX for PING-in me here.

@Plutack we can still do some of the VPS Snapper / C-5. Also you can customize it with add-on CPU, RAM or increased NVME if you wish.
You can also just get the promo and upgrade later.

    VPS Snapper / C-5 - NVME - I87

2 vCPU Xeon Gold 6130 CPU
    4 GB DDR4 RAM
