Is Contabo VPS good for a production stage?
It's been a while. I would like to ask a review or a recommendation.
I've been looking for a VPS right now and I visited AWS Lightsail, OVH, VULTR, and Colocrossing VPS.
I've been using these providers from time to time with AWS/OVH for almost 6 years now.
VPS now have increase their prices so I'm looking for another provider I can try for this new project that I have.
I got a glimpse of Contabo VPS which offers 6GRam/4vCPU which I think a very good specs.
Is their service good? Or are their product performant?
I'll be adding TP link OMADA Software Controller and a SaaS Point of Sales.
I read in the past that their network/VPS is not that good. I'm wondering if things have improve today?
Do they have frequent downtimes?
Are their machine performant?
Do they oversell?

Contabo vps is good for some couple months until it goes down without any notification I also tried there contabo vps for couple of months I left contabo when the downtime was more then 5 days, I created many tickets but never got replied so finally I said good bye to contabo vps
@Khadeercasino thanks for sharing. that is not a good sign.
Use the search function, and search for Contabo you'll find what you're looking for !
I would much rather go with Hetzner or OVH than Contabo. @Advin got some cheap vps too that would suit your needs.
Hetzner is a much better option IMO. I've had various issues with Contabo and I've yet to receive a reply within 24 hours and it's closer to 72 no matter how critical the issue is.
Hetzner usually answers within an hour.
For truly production usage then having support to count on is essential.
Contabo is a not good on my experience. I mean, they are really bad
HetznerCloud is a better option for you if your location is in Europe and the US.
They have close to Contabo's price/performance ratio, but better internet, consistent online time, and consistent performance, unlike Contabo's random theft.
And yes, there is a stable support service.
There is no doubt that you should be firm with Contabo's other European counterpart.
@danblaze thanks. I tried creating an account with them but I cannot continue since they are asking for credit card details. I only want to use PayPal only. too bad they don't accept
Thank you guys for the reviews and sharing of your experience. I will not try Contabo.
Is that right?
I'm pretty sure I use Paypal to pay my Hetzner bills. Maybe there's a mistake?
I'm not sure what happen. The only option is see is "Add Credit Card" details to continue registering account. They maybe change the way to create account.
Maybe you have to verify a card but can then use PayPal to pay.
If you're comparing it to a default AWS EC2, (for example t3/t4), then Contabo will blow it out of the water because AWS has various "burstable" limits, (i.e. provider imposed limits), so even an over-sold Contabo VPS will perform better than a comparable EC2, (assuming a consistent load at ~30-40% resource consumption)
Personally, I wouldn't recommend either of them but Contabo beats AWS on both performance and price. However, there's much better options out there, (for example Hetzner if you need a 'mature' provider)
Support: It's a hit or miss, it depends on your luck. So not for production.
Performance: Disk speed is low, If you ask support, it will get a bit better.
Initial SSD Speed of a 4vCPU,8GB RAM,200Gb SSD, 200mbps 32TB bandwidth network, Singapore DC
(old plan, they no longer have it)
after you contact support
In summary it is definitely a affordable product for non-critical purposes with low disk speed requirement and higher SSD disk space. Lower network speed and Higher Bandwidth and a bonus snapshot.
Is Contabo VPS good for a production stage?
Here is the YABS for Cloud VPS 1 (4vCPU,6GB RAM,400GB SSD, 200mbps 32TB bandwidth network, India DC)
India is relatively new, so it probably isn't as overcrowded as other locations yet.
Hetzner vs OVH vs Contabo vs Netcup, which one might be the Worst?

I used to use Contabo as my hosting source like 4 years ago, now I use Contabo as my seedbox. Cheap storage for me without hassle and sicne seedbox doesn't ask much of the resources it's really good for me that purpose.
Please don't use it for anything production level.
As I previously stated, you can improve your IOPS by contacting support. Here is the new YABS of the same VPS.
I am surprised noone mentioned that Contabo is king when it comes to ridiculous CPU steal. I have never seen a worse provider than Contabo from that point of view.
Last time I tried it, it was good for a day or so and then a disaster yet again and I promised myself to never waste my time and money with them.
contabo NO
No no no you Will get 10MB/sec IO
Much noisy neighbors
Really overselling
Here the IO you Will contacts them everyday because of this with 3-7 days unsolved issue.
If you love your bussiness don't use them
for stupidest shit, sure
for serious stuff, no
JP Morgan uses nothing but Contabo. Zero fucks given.
hello, I would like to thank you all for suggestion and sharing your experiences.
I did not select Contabo and choose AWS LightSail again though a bit pricey. Many thanks.
