I should have put serial numbers on those, as they are one of a kind now :)

  • @spywork I'm interested in it. Is it the 45 USD deal?

    How does 15TB sound? 6C, 8G, 60Gb NVME, 15TB ?

    I'll take it! 😜

I did, have like 3 of them. :D

    what is the issue?

When the Plex server is started after installation, it shows a warning: "Another device is attempting to sign in using your Plex account. You should only continue if you know this device and intend to grant it access," along with the server’s IP address.

When I click next and log in to my Plex account to claim the server, it shows "initializing" for a while and then the error "something went wrong."

From then onwards whenever I try to log in, the error "Make sure the server is available and try again" is displayed.

Something to do with the first error I think, maybe the IP is banned ?

I used without problem Plex on my VPS. Sure you have some misconfiguration.

    @Void

Never seen that error message before.

did you use the official image and not something else/docker and so on?

Yes, official one from plex site. I'm on windows so it is supposed to be very straight forward.
btw this is the warning I'm seeing. This is even before logging in so I have no clue what is meant by "your Plex account" here

Thank you ….. thank you …. thank you

Amazing VPS is even better with 10 TB storage
Expect large data set test results next week

Ditto! After getting burned on a HostBrr transfer and needing some more space, I decided to reach out to @host_c to ask if I can upgrade from 5T to 10T.. not only did he give me the upgrade, he let me keep the CPU upgrade I won from a little trivia we had here.

The VM panel is surprisingly intuitive also! I installed debian via iso and did some minor tweaks and the normal disk IOPs, GB score and storage IOPs are all excellent! Network has been amazing for me as well, I consistently get 600-700mbps to/from NY.

    P.S. I'll share a YABs later.

Snapshots although originally included, were disabled due to a bug -- and that would be the icing on the cake. The perfect storage VM for my needs so far.

Thanks again @host_c! Wishing you continued success!

    what is the issue?

How do I get my files to upload to the HDD and not the SSD? Any online tutorial about this?

(First time using HDD storage, I have the drive mounted and set the mount to persist at reboot but that's it.)

You could mount it to /home. So make sure that you're on this directory once you're uploading files.

Another option might be to set up a symlink if you want to stay inside your /home directory. I'm not sure how you're "uploading" -- but the mounted directory like any other, you simply have to choose whichever software is moving files around to move it there and use it, or download it to there directly.

Got it. If I mounted to /home, would that mean that any file uploaded in that directory or any directory below it (like /home/web/mysite1/public_html) would be stored on the hard disk?

I've been uploading using Webmin and Virtualmin to automate webserver creation. I'm not sure how symbolic links would be affected by that. But based on your reply, which directories are you suggesting that I would create a symbolic link between?

For example, my main usage has been as a borg backup server/repo. I set up a single partition debian system:

    OS DRIVE:
    - 36GB (mounted to /)
    - 4GB swap
    STORAGE DRIVE:
    - single XFS partition (mounted to /mnt/storage)

I wanted to use borgwarehouse as a simple gui -- but it demands you create a "borgwarehouse" user with their home directory in "/home/borgwarehouse", the borg repos would then be stored in "/home/borgwarehouse/repos" .. so what I did was I created a symlink from /home/borgwarehouse/repos -> /mnt/storage/borg ... so when borgwarehouse creates and updates backups, it does it to /home/borgwarehouse/repos but it's actually being stored in my XFS partition (/mnt/storage/borg)... the software/client doesn't need to know the difference.. the symlink to my storage partition is as good as its own repos directory.

:D now I know who is eating up the BW to NYC.... :D :D good for you.

@stxsh said: The VM panel is surprisingly intuitive also!

We are still doing some tweeks there, for example we will set up that a permanent second CD unit is mounted at boot with virto tools on it, so those that do windows can have an easier install experience, the actual one is kinda.... well not cool for sure. :( .

You might experience some hangs in the panel for the upcoming week, so please as usual, be patient, we are trying to sweep out the rats and bugs there.

I have to admin, Modules Garden actually listened to us ( and for sure to few others ) as they did some big steps in the usage and setup of their software.

after the next few nodes are provisioned we will still have to upgrade a few old ones, so raid 6 performance on 4K random read-write can reach 10 to 15 MB/SEC, actual value fore some nodes is still 4-8 MB/sec, for us, that is a no-go.

But more on this in the upcoming days ( ah yes, we will live migrate as much as possible, so none have downtime, maybe slughis performance for a few hours )

ASIA, China is still bad, at least in my opinion.

We will most probably get a dedicated line for APAC region, but I cannot give an exact ETA on it right now.

    EDIT:

Whatever they tried yesterday, it turned out really bad at some point, so I asked them to just drop the whole shit for the moment.

    Wow, that's nice.
    Looking forward to it!

  • So, will the 5TB version be restocked, or will there only be the 10TB version available in the future?

10TB, as I said before, the 5Tb is EOL.

Transfers of the Pioneer 5TB among customers are allowed ( as for any other services ).

there is a 5USD transfer Fee ( that fee is the same for any VPS transfer with us )

Finally got around to actually moving some files to my boxes, and performance is as if the node is empty :p

Well neighbors are mostly fine, we had little problems with the new tenants.

I wish to thank for all of them for behaving nicely, keeping track of the quiet hours, not putting music too loud on the speakers, and having a good time while doing parties and so on :D :D :D

Will this VPS be back in stock in July? Currently I'm limited by bandwidth on my current provider and I need to move. Unmetered 100Mpbs bandwidth is very nice.

Also is it possible to buy additional, for example 10TB, temporary storage addon for a month for migration purposes?

Mine given to @SoaringOpen transfer it's very easy. 5$ for transfer and open a ticket to hostc support and give the mail to receive the service. Assistance is very fast and gentle to support. Very great @host_c

For the moment you might have a better chance on Transfer. we are cooking something up, and it is consuming all our efforts and hardware.
