    Hi,

yes you could go with what @davide suggested but:

    https://login.layer7.net/index.php?rp=/store/cloud-server-high-cpu-par1/high-cpu-2cores-8gb-80gb-par1

    will give you:

    • AMD Epyc CPU ( 2 AMD Epyc CPU's will be as good as 4 of the other one or better )

    • with 15 TB monthly bandwidth you actually dont need 5 Gbit/s. Either this monthy traffic volume is too small or this 5 Gbit/s too high, so going with the default 1 Gbit/s seems more fitting.

But you can any time upgrade to 2.5 or 5 Gbit/s. In the meanwhile you save money.

With an 8 GB extra disk you will be at 18.84 EUR / month for monthly payment or 15.07 EUR / month on yearly payments. Prices without Vat.

Since you mentioned poor disk IO:

The disk comes with an 300 IOPS / 50 MB/s Bandwidth quota limit. If you need more, we will have to make a special deal.

When it come to torrent, use @HostSlick offer, then ask him to add the 8tb disk on top of it :) Give him some offer @HostSlick , cheapest as possible >:)

What's your bandwidth price per 100 tb ?

  • layer7layer7 Member, Host Rep, LIR

    Hi,

depends a bit on your port size and the total amount of bandwidth.

But a rough orientation for additionalis 0,50 EUR - 0.8 EUR per TB, while 100 TB would be 65,- EUR

In the france plans already 50 TB are anyway included.

Please checkout the offerdetails at https://layer7.net/cloud-server#FR-PAR

    especially also the:

**Traffic policy: If weekly average > 250 Mbit/s usage, temporary portspeed reduction to 150 Mbit/s, upgradeable

With rising bandwidth's of course also this average's might change to make sure that you will not be hold back to actually consume the traffic that is included. Its just an abuse protection from us. Unfortunately necessary... :/

I ended up getting 6 core Epyc box in FRA - it's great for the most part except disk IO which is huge a bottleneck for me and I'm constantly seeing IOWAITs at 50-70%.
Any chance some change can be made after server is purchased and online?

    Hi,

i highly suggest you to open a ticket ( IF you have IO Waiting time AND not reaching the IOPS/BW Limit ) regarding this instead ( or at least in combination ) to write it in a forum ;-)

And yes, for ~ 1.8 EUR per TB per month for redundant disk space, we have to implement some limitation to make this offer work. The 50 MB/s quota are equal to around 500 Mbit/s traffic. Thats actually not that bad -- considering the price.

If you need more performance, we can of course give more performance. Unfortunately that will come with an increasing price ( in a way it makes actually no sense ).

So at the end of the day, if you need more speed, we would have to give it as a dedicated offer where the disks work only for you. But that would require to take at least 16-20 TB of diskspace. I dont know if this is something for you.

As an alternative, we have currently a limited offer in combination with the ryzen cpu's and NVMe diskspace. But of course also for a totally different price. Still super low, but compared to 1.8 EUR / TB....
