Contabo scam and refund policy
So as you are aware with recent Contabo launching in India and so i purchased a VPS and suprising the performance of the VPS was amazing. However, after 2days i noticed a huge drop of performance, almost fallen from a height.
I reached to almost non-existent support and they said that we have imrpoved the I/O perfomance. What a joke.
I asked for the refund and they denied the refund stating that i signed up as a Business and they don't offer refund to Business users as per their policy https://help.contabo.com/en/support/solutions/articles/103000285149-can-i-get-a-refund-
although you can see there is no mention of anything like this.
I had one more vps with them so i canceled both of them now. Bycott their service. It is not worth.

In my experience, Its normal behaviour to them have super poor peformance when promotion launch. You can basically tell them to change your node for that, and I have dont issue after that.
if you really did sign up as a business then those refund policies do not actually apply. that's common sense for germans because thats our law, idk how it is elsewhere.

i wish changing node will fix it, although my first vps was purchased 2months ago given on intel with poor yabs, when asked they moved me to amd one yet the yabs was very low compare to what i am getting with hostup or hetzner.
is it in the new indian location?
yes i have signed it as business because i had plans to offer some vps to clients for staging. although the policy never mention term "business" but have "numerous specific cases, conditions and methods to be eligible for a refund".
If anyone using personal billing in India can file case under The Consumer Protection Act 35, 2019 for the deficiency of the service.
How is their service deficient?
Did the ToS promise a guaranteed yabs score? Given the resources are shared, they are probably going to be in the Green within the ToS
It's known issue with the said host that the overselling is there and performance is a hit/ miss. There are several threads already sharing the same sentiments.
Maybe you could have used some due diligence and made an educated decision.
With regards to refunds nit eligible for businesses unfortunately I am not a lawyer.
Take this as a good lesson learned and don't expect performance of vps to be consistent unless you pay for a dedicated box or the likes.
Shared services always run into a risk of lower performance and practically every host will NEVER guarantee a said yabs score (not that it's official).
Plus even if the scores are low it'd based on what's going on in the system at that point in time. Sometimes your neighbors will be running intensive app but it may be better sometime later or worse.
No host will worry about yabs as long as the vps is performing decently...

Not suitable for production due to support(previous experience from a VPS in singapore DC). Support is a hit or miss.
If contabo is so bad - move along. Or you can’t find better deal? Support is better than any punjabi call center support.
