Are you sure your iso have virtio driver included?
In addition to copying the drivers to the Windows ISO, you have to actually load the disk driver. On the page that shows the disks, click "Load driver" and browse to the right folder (for example
D:\virtio\amd64\2k22). Once Windows is installed, you can mount the VirtIO ISO and run the setup to install all the other drivers (network, etc)You mean they didn't slipstream the drivers, they just copied driver folder to Windows setup dir and made an ISO? Well, that's a waste of time.
My logic is that if they slipstreamed the drivers, they wouldn't be asking this question since it'd be working fine. 😛
Also, if you search for "Virtio Windows ISO" in Google, some guides actually tell you to just create a virtio folder in the ISO rather than slipstreaming the drivers. For example, RamNode's instructions: https://clientarea.ramnode.com/knowledgebase/4192/How-to-Create-a-Custom-Windows-ISO-with-Virtio-Drivers.html
try this one

Hi, maybe you can try dd a windows
I have a record: https://blog.tanglu.me/dd/#hosthatch
if you have any other problems, you can send me a email, my email is [email protected]
Did you ever get this to work, I'm trying to do this now, I've created a windows 2022 iso with the virtio drivers (https://docs.vultr.com/windows-custom-iso-with-virtio-drivers) but when i try to install the driver it says none are compatible with the hardware.
Pretty frustrated with the lack of support from host hatch too. They just link to https://docs.vultr.com/windows-custom-iso-with-virtio-drivers but don't help when it doesn't work. I thought they were supposed to the top tier provider here.
No provider will support how to install any custom iso. You should know how to install custom iso.
@hosthatch is a premium provider and I am running Windows Server OS with no issues.
Things got a lot easier for me when I bought PowerISO.
Burnaware Free Edition works well, too.
https://www.burnaware.com/compare-editions.html
Can also use ntlite to slipstream the required drivers. Steps here: https://docs.vultr.com/how-to-create-a-windows-custom-iso-with-updates-using-ntlite
Slip streaming has the advantage that the required drivers will be loaded automatically rather than manually loading them.
You just need to click load drivers then select vioscsi folder and select the windows version then load the drivers and click the refresh button the drive will popup the mount the windows disk again and click refresh again you can continue the setup then.
Watch this movie and you will know what I mean:
If you want to create a custom iso just download the windows of your choise at massgrave then download imgburn, create a new iso with the windows and virtio drivers and you're ready to go.
They are absolutely a top tier unmanaged lowend provider but expecting them to fix your custom iso is completely unrealistic.
If you need that level of support you need to buy a managed vps, but a managed windows vps is a hell of a lot more expensive.
Thanks, yeah that video is exactly what I've been doin got my iso mounted with the extra drivers and loaded into the system. I think something else is just going wrong, I get to the point where I select the amd drivers for windows 2022 and it just says it can't find any matching hardware, then after a few min hard resets itself. Just waiting on the ticket, but I did pick it up from the sale which explicitly has a longer response time for support so probably gona be a bit till I find out why.
Unmanaged is right, probably should temper my expectations for help. They do have a windows_server_2022 iso as part of their self install area so I was just a bit frustrated at the lack of help. I was expecting a bit more advice for using the provided tools in their portal than:
Where do you find a Windows iso on Hosthatch's site?
I've used Hosthatch for something like 10 years and I have never seen them mention that they support Windows.
You have to upload the windows iso with virtio drivers slipstreamed yourself. They aren't encouraging windows, but they definitely support running it.
Check in the "Select an ISO to mount..." dropdown.
It's at the end "windows_server_2022-BYOL.iso"
Well, my bad, I stand corrected. To be honest I have never even looked there, I just assumed that was for custom iso's.
Allowing is not the same as supporting, but ok, if they provide the iso they should support it unless otherwise stated.
@YassGames
What is the configuration of your VPS?
I can help installing Windows Server 2022 on your VPS.
I haven't seen any LET provider who provides support for installing OS using Custom ISO.
At best, they help with loading custom iso in that list.
@hosthatch is a premium provider, no issues in almost two years running the VPS.
Well, you have mentioned it clearly.
It is a deeply discounted VPS with much lower priority support
Agree, but this iso is actually supplied by Hosthatch. I have not uploaded any custom iso's, but I can still choose it from the list.
Agree again, I've been using them for a decade and they are close to flawless.
Still, it is a self install option.
All the standard supported OS are included in auto install template.

Even youtube 4k video is running so smooth, that is the power of this vps. something 90% of LET VPS fail in this test
@YassGames
if you are looking to transfer any of the VPS, let me know
You are awesome. Thank you so much. I was able to install Windows and get all the drivers, enable RDP and now testing it out.
Unfortunately, companies are dropping out of HK. Recently Aeza shut down their HK operations.
I use my Windows VPS as a desktop replacement and low latency on RDP is very important. Aeza gave me about 5ms, HostHatch is 6ms.
Options in Singapore are about 35ms.
(I am based in HK).
Anyways, thanks again!
hey did you got any network error, ethernet not getting detected in mine

did you add the virtio drivers to the iso?
