Is anyone using Paymenter as a WHMCS FOSS alternative?

UchihaUchiha Member

I recently heard about Paymenter from someone. It's a hosting billing FOSS software built in Laravel. Is anyone using it or has anyone migrated from WHMCS to it? How was the experience, and how does it compare to the market leader, WHMCS?

It's a cool project, but I wouldn't use it in production.

UI looks amazing, https://paymenter.org/docs/getting-started/extensions/ is lacking and the marketplace as well.

Why wouldn't you use it for production?

  • I'm currently using it. But I'm working on a custom panel developed by me.

Has too many bugs the last time I checked. There was a Deadpool provider Xeroz Tech, they used to use it. My invoices and services disappeared magically 🤣

  • If they recommend switching from WHMCS to Paymenter, will it be safe and stable?

  • It's fine, not great.

We modified it a bit to remove the requirement for emails, but the way it's built is really time consuming to modify and develop for so we are going to just develop our own system in future to replace it.

I concluded that the amount of time I'd spend fighting with it is more than just scratch building something, and I'd rather have something that doesn't rely on one single server for the panel to stay online anyway.
