I do not recommend it, REST API is unfinished, theres no way to scale it.
Both of them will slowdown as they utilize AJAX to do updates like instant messaging, but at least BuddyBoss has nice REST API, so you can go headless and mitigate issues.
Will you want to enable features such as photo or video uploading? Photos will work fine, but if you need videos then you cannot transcode them on shared hosting. You wont have ffmpeg binary installed and you will break all AUP policies. You need beefy VPS, netcup RS1000 G11 with 4x dedicated EPYC Genoa vCores costs 10euro/mo is perfect for that. For maximum flexibility you should offload media to Backblaze B2 or Cloudflare R2.
netcup RS + CloudPanel + Docket Cache as WP plugin (generates cache as PHP objects instead of connecting to Redis, it is faster than Redis, because there is no additional UNIX socket connection to generate page) + BuddyBoss is my sugestion.

Overhyped. Service activation and support very slow, sometimes takes days to get response. Second web service is not soo stable, also this new UK server has been down soo many times..
It may be good for if your budget is VERY limited and looking to host not so important content, otherwise there are better options.
try Racknerd, Hostbrr or Namecrane.
