Markahost’s VPS Reinstallation Charges: New Practice or Turkey-Specific Trend?

NebesNebes Member

I recently encountered an interesting situation with my VPS hosting provider, Markahost. They are now charging for re-installing the operating system (OS) on virtual private servers (VPS) via the control panel. I’m curious whether this is a new industry practice or specific to Turkey?

    netboot.xyz is your best friend.

I've never heard, nor seen providers charging for it, however, if you reinstalled too many times maybe there's a hidden cap.

I reinstalled the VPS three times since purchasing it one week ago, the third was the last free lol

    Blatant scam. Run away.

  • I have loads of cheap servers and none of the providers charge for reinstallls from the console....but if any of them ever do then I'll take it as a sign they're heading to deadpool and migrate my services

Lol, they’re asking almost $4 for each system reinstall after the limit :o

No problem at all, closed. Markahost, Turkey - NO GO :#

It is probably specific to some of the dirt cheap vps providers out of Turkey. When I used markahost, they had a limit to how many times you were able to reinstall. Once I hit the limit, I opened a ticket and they responded and reset it pretty quickly at no cost. You can't expect much when you are paying about $3/m for 4 core and 6gb ram VPS.

But I do agree, it's stupid to even have a limit or charge for it. They should just increase the price monthly to include reinstallation fee.

  • pedalapedala Member

Reinstall fee seems like a big folly to me... it's like going to a restaurant and paying for the chair you sit on, in addition to the food. They'll lose customers for sure, as there are plenty of other options out there.

  • There's no words to say how retarded that is.
Refund immediately and just ddos is 24/7 until they go out of business.
That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever online and I've seen a lot of weird shit.

  • Definitely not normal to charge for re-installation, as said, get out of there.

  • NebesNebes Member

Lol, I visited the Turkish local r10 dot net forum, and it seems that most companies are imposing restrictions on re-installations. Additionally, they are levying extra charges beyond two installations per month. This appears to be a common trend in Turkey.

You'd think that but i've had plenty of tickets from people asking if there's a reinstall limit. Its gotta be going on somewhere.

I have quite a few providers in mind who limit the number of reinstallations per month.
If this measure is in place, then there must be some guys who do it so many times that it has an impact on node performance.

With KVM, there's often a way around this limit.
