7$
Now you can hit your data cap in half the time
How generous of them
but what's the catch
@raindog308 Speedtest?
Fishy
The download usually goes a bit higher, to maybe 350.
I've been living under 10mbps uplink for a long time and I'm delighted to have that doubled...much more so than I would be if they increased download more. Now maybe all my B2 backups will complete in a reasonable time.
If I lived a couple blocks west of here (seriously, that's all it is) I could get fiber, but they don't offer it in my neighborhood. The only other option is 7/1 DSL from CenturyLink.
Yeah, I pay extra for unlimited...
Donβt forget to post your invoice number ππππ I personally do have unlimited data plan SIMo for Β£6 per month
No invoice # no double bandwidth
and they just increased the price a month ago. I'm being robbed and cant do shit about it.
@mezoology I have the same upload speed, but 4 times less download! Syncing mariadb took one day the last time!
Must be nice! I used to have 15dl/2up from a WISP that never wanted to work, but I just switched to T-Mobile home internet and it's been way better at 500dl/60up. Same situation, fiber down and they just refuse to come in like 800 feet.
FCC today announced updated minimum speed requirement for broadband qualifications. It was 25M/3M (d/u) and now it's 100M/20M. Most broadband providers would probably adjust their higher tier plans to the same ratio.
In other news, the data cap that typical cable have still applies. Double the speed but not bandwidth is not fun. Although it's not that customers could occupy the max speed constantly, it's more like VPS where a provider advertised 1Gbps port but you SHOULD NOT constantly burst over 500Mbps.
How much the cost you pay for internet ?
is it at least cheap?
my isp increased their base plan from 25 mbps up/down to 250 mbps up/down recently as well(price is the same). I guess it is because of the FCC.
I pay ~ $5, which is still much for most. Internet is a monopoly here.
I'm thinking of getting 1 more line and merging on my sophos.
As much as the Chinese internet is really fucking awful to deal with sometimes, it does have one advantage which is that because it started developing much later basically everyone has GPON fiber for broadband...
Wish we had that in North America ;(
I guess I really can't complain now. :-)
$89/Month AT&T Fiber to the home.
Much cheaper than my internet - the cheapest "internet" you could get where I live (excluding dialup) is Visable's hotspot for $20 a month and then proxy the traffic to not be limited by the 5 Mbps and instead get around 50-80 Mbps but its still cellular so you got those downsides.
This isn't counting the free WiFi I get at my house albiet it very slow(image attached )
ffs, and I thought I'm in the shittiest country with the shittiest internet in the galaxy.
I'm wondering whats this country beats mine to the 'take their money and give nothing' ISP.
This is the US but I guess you have to consider that since even fast food jobs pay $15 an hour and 250 megabits is $50 a month I guess it costs 3 hours of work for the basic internet package per month.
There was a politician 10 years ago, he said on TV that the hours of work required to pay for driving a car in Italy divided by the distance traveled is more than the time of walking divided by the same distance. On napkin math it turns out it wasn't entirely true back then, but it certainly is today! If we keep the mafia good government on the right path, sending pigeon-pendrives may soon become cheaper than an internet subscription! (...unless the postal monopoly runs the avian mail)
I got ATT Fiber too. They recently started selling 5Gbit here
xfinity sucks
The next price increase will use the previous speed upgrades as the excuse for raising prices though..
They should rebrand to Wee Internet.
@concept , They are offering it here too, just honestly for me at home I only download an iso now and then its just not worth the hardware upgrade. network upgrade, and all that for me here at home. Now at the DC...... :-)
I also have no comprehension of what more than 8mbps is. I can even stream movies from bittorrent, what's the point!
ok
