Hey guys,
what do you use to backup important stuff on your linux desktop? I've made python script to gzip important folders and upload to backblaze but I think I'm reinventing the wheel.

borgbackuo with https://github.com/borgbase/vorta
Otherwise the pure cli tools like restic, borgmatic, kopia, etc.

I use MX for my desktop and it has a utility called MXSnapshot which creates a bootable .iso of my working system, for personal backup (preserved account). You can also setup for distribution (reset account). You can add or exclude directories you want in the snapshot, and change some .iso compression options.
UrBackup is a nice opensource solution.
currently backing up locally with some bash + rsync
kopia.io + b2
Important stuff, email, etc. is kept on an encrypted gocryptfs volume and rsynced to a second drive, flash drive, and vps. I use gocryptfs for it so only the files that change get synced instead of the whole volume.
The whole system gets backed up with borgbackup to an external hard drive, and to rsync.net.
I have 100GB of rsync.net space for $18/year, the borg special. I notice now they have a new plan for 200GB for $19.20/year.
