Nope, flash sales are only done for BF. I tried hard to get the chef last year for NY sale, but no avail.
We want flash sales but giveaways first 🫡
I'd be happy with flash sales as well, even though I won't be participating. Don't have funds to pay on idling VPSes. But, if it's anything like the BF thread, people would get awesome deals at very cheap prices.
If you take the credits instead of the laptop, then you would have enough funds for a lot of idling VPSs
Think that's dried out too, unfortunately 😞
Yah, but, right now, the laptop's priority. The laptop would help me take some financials off of the electricity bill and would be the perfect replacement for my trustworthy 9 year old Dell, that's slowly showing signs of ageing.
Moreover, it's not about the money spent, but, it kinda hurts my soul to see VPSes idling. Won a 1GB VPS on this thread, planning to run daily YABS on it and find a way to share it here so that members can get an idea of what to expect.
My laptop also is showing age problems. Its from 2017, I already replaced the keyboard, SSD, I added memory, but the last thing what I am not plannong to change - this summer webcam died...
That was a stressful experience, because I noticed it 1 hour before my OCI online certification, where wrbcam is mandatory... had to switch to even older wifes laptop and setup everything, where webcam was still working.
Don't worry, you'll get used to idling VMs
This community is all about that
How many VPS you have from Racknerd?
I get that pain. Have had a few of these episodes in the recent past. That's why I decided to fly high (maybe a bit unnecessarily high) for the top position. Already asked a friend in the US to get it to me. No idea when he'll return home, but, I guess, it's better to wait.
2, one bought from the flash sale, another won from this thread in the GA. Infact, these are the only 2 VPSes that I own.
With 10$ and some spam you are eligible to won a laptop. This life Is very strange

I have a dream, talk with a invoice-bot-generator
They only generate output, they don't take any input at all
Got a noob question for you gurus - I have a 2GB VRAM basic VPS on Intel right now with RackNerd. If say in the future, I'd like to upgrade to Ryzen, would a host be able to just upgrade the CPU to Ryzen while keeping my VPS, the IP and other stuff intact? Or, will I have to buy it anew and move files from my basic VPS to Ryzen?
Wanted to know if this was even a possibility before I asked dustin.
Statutory warning: Not a guru.
Technically yes its mostly possible to migrate from intel to amd without issues. Are you using nested virtualization in any way. If so, then there may be issues as kvm kernel modules for intel wont load on amd.
Not using nested KVM. I was also concerned about the RAM specs change from DDR4 to DDR5. I always thought it was more or less easier than doing it on Windows, especially cause drivers are loaded onto the kernel. If something is messed up, I guess, a kernel update or for that matter DKMS will work as well.
Yeah it very much comes down to: depends. I guess in general chances for the provider willing to do that are higher as long as the actual plan stays the same. When there are changes (especially with disk configuration) it can get into various amounts of messy depending what kind of setup the provider is running and is thus less likely to be seen as effort worth investing by them.
