Forums are dying, it's now about some discord server communities.
I cannot really agree with that. Forums and Discord serve different purposes. I would rather say in most cases you do not need a forum but rather want a more real time communication based platform such as discord. In Germany Forums are widely used and aren't in any decline whatsoever. Tho you could argue that's because of strong communities.
Personally I like Discourse.
I'm dumb and can't read properly.
I was replying specifically re: Discord/Forum quote, but I wouldn't say Discord is killing forums. More that it does feel sometimes like forums are fewer and fewer these days or more fragmented. I think @totally_not_banned nailed it with social media platforms having a more direct impact.
I also think there is just a massive shift in 'average internet user' today compared to 1-2 decades ago. You went from sitting on your 233Mhz P2 w/external USRobotics modem dialing up to a local ISP to now a pocket device always connected at speeds 50x+ what your average local ISP had as a backbone.
Discord has a completely different use-case (in my mind) and is excellent for quick back/forth on sales, support, general chat type of uses. That being said, it still encroaches on the need for forums to a degree if you weren't already exposed to them before but forums will likely always remain king for niche topics and longer write-ups (at least I hope so).
Though the question I usually ask myself is "Do we really want/need everyone on a forum?". I get that growth in the communities is good, but having seen Facebook 'communities' via people sharing stuff I'd rather keep the majority of that contained there
LowEndSpirit is great.

what the actual
(in unrelated matters, where can I obtain 1) a monkey and 2) a razor with next day delivery?)
Discord is mostly for chatting / arguing.
Forum is for official discussions/larger arguments/constructive discussion, etc.
You actually think before you type when its forum, while in discord its just chatter most of the time.
Discord forum threads functionality is pure shit. The UI doesent work as you would wish. Its unsuitable for forum since it allows spamming, and is in place which is associated with short messages and instant replies.
I do not like what he does in Racknerd thread, however I had a few interactions with him on several occasions.
He was very understanding, kind and reasonable individual every time. I have no complaints to him moderating LES, he does a great job.
Given the current situation on LET:
I mean, it was so obvious that it was already humorous.
That being said, average LET user will even buy from satan himself if the deal is good. And racknerd always has good deals and is nearly impossible to beat in that area.
To your original question, given all of the above, I think it's justified to some extend to tease the guy a little in his sales thread given how big audience he already has lol.
It's not like it will affect the sales or his position anyways.
@totally_not_banned I like how you liked the post. Let's hope its not a prediction lol.
As I already have mild warning for trolling a moderator.

LET & LES
d2jsp. i love shitting on d4 over there and enjoy it being one of the fastest forums on the internet as well. been there since its inception when it was on ipb 1.2 and even before that
man i miss ventrilo and teamspeak so much. the native UI feel on them are still mountains better than any web based garbage we get nowadays. the word software has truly lost its meaning over the years as well. now it's "packaged with electron!" buffoonery
hell, even godot 2.1 has a far more responsive ui system. built my own front-end forum layout using it to test (fluxbb on the backend sending json, and using my modified godot client to read it and render the ui pages/elements). main forum page, viewing topics, visiting a profile, etc. the UX is far more reactive than any web based chromium dog doo doo.
zoomers and the new generations don't care either. why would they when they get 32gb RGB ram sticks as stocking stuffers? some random app using 500x more ram than it needs to, is negligible to them. it's a function of time and will get worse with every generation
Would love to see telegram becoming the next forum instead of discord
