The Story Behind "Shh! Not A Doctor." and The Voice Behind "Fremulon"
A true Brooklyn Nine-Nine fan stays way past the end credits scene so they can hear "Shh! Not a doctor." Dan Goor revealed in a tweet that he was a biochemistry major who was enrolled in a med school but got a writer gig on The Daily Show two weeks before it started, which is where the name Dr. Goor Productions and the catchphrase comes from.
Michael Schur says the phrase "Shh! Not a Doctor," while Nick Offerman says "Fremulon" (in his iconic voice, one might add).

Terry's Oil Painting Of Captain Holt
The role of Terry Jeffords was created specifically with Terry Crews in mind, which is why the character takes on some of the traits of the actor. Both are very talented artists, as Terry Crews has been sketching and painting for years before becoming an actor. He revealed in an interview with Ad Age that his first job was as a courtroom sketcher.

Amy asks Sarge to draw a portrait of Captain Holt to improve his mood, but the Captain thinks it's arrogant to have a portrait of oneself and refuses to accept it. However, he later accepts the painting and gives it to Kevin, and it can be seen hanging in his office at Columbia University when Jake goes to visit him.

Andre Braugher Improvised the "Hot Damn!"
The cast says that improvising their lines is encouraged by the writers and the showrunners. Andre Braugher revealed that the cast and crew often shoot their scenes 3-4 times, each time improvising a few lines. The funniest take is then used for the episode.
In the scene where Amy is late for work, Andre Braugher improvises Captain Holt shouting "Hot Damn!" and the scene cuts right before Andy Samberg can be seen bursting out laughing.

Before Samberg made it big, he worked as a production assistant on the same lot that "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is filmed.
Samberg has made a name for himself in the comedy world. But before he became a featured player on "SNL" and Peralta on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," he worked as a production assistant for the final season of the Fox comedy "Spin Out" — which was filmed on the same lot as "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

During this same time, he was also starting his comedy-trio The Lonely Island, which helped bring him into mainstream comedy.

The building used as the precinct's exterior is a real precinct building in Brooklyn.
Although the 99th precinct is fictional, the building viewers have associated with it is actually Brooklyn's 78th precinct, located at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Bergen Street near the Barclays Center.

Most of the show, however, is shot on a sound stage in California.

Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa) originally auditioned to play Amy Santiago, but she was cast as Meghan.
After originally auditioning to be Andy Samberg's partner, Beatriz was invited to audition again for a character named Meghan.

In an interview, Beatriz said she'd lost hope after she found out Melissa Fumero would portray Amy.

"I cried because I thought 'I'm so happy for her, but I also know that there's no way that a network is going to cast two Latinas,'" she explained.

Beatriz then landed the role of Meghan, who was later re-named Rosa.

  • B99 FACTS

Some fans don't believe Stephanie Beatriz when she says she plays Rosa.
In an interview on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Stephanie Beatriz explained how her shiny demeanor often throws off fans of her bad-to-the-bone onscreen character.

"People will say, 'girl, you look like that girl who plays Rosa on 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' and I'm like, 'I am that girl!' People are like, 'Nah, you ain't.'"

  • B99 FACTS

The show's co-creator, Michael Schur, has worked on a few other beloved sitcoms.
If "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" reminds you of some of your other favorite shows, it's probably because Michael Schur is also known for his work on "The Office," "Parks and Recreation," and "The Good Place."

  • B99 FACTS

Chelsea Peretti previously worked as a writer for "Parks and Recreation."
Although the lazy demeanor of her "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" character might suggest otherwise, Peretti works hard in the sitcom business in real life.

She previously wrote for "Parks and Recreation" and even made a cameo on season four of the show.

  • The Inland Taipan (also known as, the Western Taipan) is the most venomous snake in the world. A single bite contains enough venom to kill at least 100 fully grown men, and can kill within just 30 minutes, if left untreated.

They very rarely ever come in contact with humans, however. Every reliable identification of a snake bite victim from an Inland Taipan have been herpetologists, when handling or studying the snakes. They have all survived, due to successful treatment with antivenom.

  • The worlds deadliest animal isn’t a shark, bear or tiger, but something far smaller – the mosquito. According to the World Health Organization, 725,000 people are killed each year from mosquito-borne diseases, such as Malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever.

Mosquito outnumber every other animal in the world, apart from ants and termites. They can also be found in nearly every part of the world, which all add up in the risk they pose to humans.

  • B99 FACTS

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" isn't Joe Lo Truglio's (Charles) first comedic police show.
Before he took on the role of Peralta's best friend at the precinct, Charles Boyle, Joe Lo Truglio was a reoccurring character for several seasons of Comedy Central's "Reno 911!"

The show took the style of a "Cops" parody set in Reno, Nevada.

  • There are more than 1.4 billion insects for EACH HUMAN on the planet, according to recent estimates.

Ants have colonised almost every landmass on Earth. Their population is estimated as 10^7–10^8 billion alone, in comparison to approx. 7 billion humans on the planet.

  • B99 FACTS

The cast had to go through real police firearm training.
Even though the show is a spoofy comedy, the creators wanted it to be authentic, which meant that the cast had to receive formal police firearm training before they started filming.

In an interview with Flare, Andre Braugher, who plays Captain Holt, explained the choice.

"We don't want to get lazy and we want to play cops to the best of our ability because if we lose our credibility entirely, the comic foundations will fall apart. We want audiences to believe that we're a bunch of goofball cops rather than comedians who decided to put on police uniforms," he said.

  • B99 FACTS

Braugher is trained in dramatic acting.
Braugher attended Juilliard's Drama Division, and his acting resume comes stacked with multiple roles in the New York Shakespeare Festival as well as drama and thriller films such as "Glory," "Primal Fear," and "Frequency."

It definitely is. I am glad they reached finale, but, sad that the show had to end.

  • Love the TV series - 'The Office.' Here are a few more shows like it, that you will like.

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    Arrested Development
With their assets frozen, a dysfunctional family is put to the test when their father is imprisoned for embezzlement profits.

So the neurotic Bluths turn to level-headed Michael (Jason Bateman) to restore the peace, who knows that his family's problems extend way beyond corporate fraud.

Vulture writer Brian Tallerico wrote that the best episodes of the Fox-Netflix series act as a "showcase for one of the best TV-comedy ensembles of all time."

Tallerico added that the show was "funny then, it's funny now, and it'll be funny forever."

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    Community
When a lawyer (Joel McHale) is exposed to have faked his degree, he's forced to take classes at a community college with an eccentric group of adults.

Sporting an all-star cast, with actors like Donald Glover and Ken Jeong, NBC's "Community" is sure to pull you in with its lovable characters and jokes.

"'Community' can be fresh, funny, smart and extremely aware of its own cleverness," Verne Gay wrote for Newsday.

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    New Girl
The initial premise for Fox's "New Girl" is simple: quirky girl Jess (Zooey Deschanel) finds herself moving into a loft with three guys after her love life is upturned.

At first, it's Jess who's labeled as "the weird one," but over the course of the show, every character turns out to be strange in their own unique way, which makes the series even stronger as a result.

"It feels like spending time with friends you used to hang out with way more often a few years ago; things are kind of different now, but the comedy, from the physical to the face flinches to the inside jokes, is all still there," TV critic Lea Palmieri wrote for Decider.

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    Derry Girls
Set in Ireland, this British Channel 4 TV show follows teenager Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson) and her group of unusual friends as they grow up during difficult times in Derry, Northern Ireland, and navigate Catholic high school.

Of course, like on "The Office," the show is filled with loads of hilarious antics.

So far, the series has two seasons and critics just can't get enough — it currently has a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

As Rebecca Nicholson wrote for The Guardian, "There are few spectacles more ripe for comedy than teenagers causing havoc, but Derry Girls has got it down to a fine art."

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    The Good Place
After working on "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation," Michael Schur created the NBC comedy of existential proportions "The Good Place."

When Eleanor (Kristen Bell) is told that she died and made it into the Good Place, she soon realizes her heavenly afterlife was meant for someone else with the same name. Eleanor tries to become a better person and earn her spot so she can avoid being sent to the hellish Bad Place for eternity.

In addition to its well-written jokes and stellar cast, "The Good Place" surprised critics early on with twists and turns that had them on the edge of their seats.

"For about 95 percent of season one, 'The Good Place' was simply a delightful comedy," wrote TV critic Lenika Cruz for The Atlantic. "But a show that initially looked like it would follow a flawed woman's noble efforts at self-improvement, while riffing on philosophical and spiritual concepts, turned out to be much more."

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    After Life
On the UK version of "The Office," Gervais played the original Dunder-Mifflin boss. But on the Netflix dramatic comedy "After Life," he plays Tony, a recently widowed man whose life is turned upside down following his wife's death.

Critics have praised the dark comedy for its dry wit and depth.

"There's a difference between being honest and being cruel," wrote TV critic Caroline Framke for Variety. "This [show's] lesson in basic kindness, despite all of his attempts otherwise, may be Gervais' most shocking turn yet."

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
If you liked Ellie Kemper as Erin on "The Office," you'll likely love her even more as the enigmatic lead of Netflix's "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."

After being kidnapped as a young teenager and held in an underground bunker for years, Kimmy takes a new lease on life in New York City with her roommate Tituss (Tituss Burgess) and her slightly crooked landlord Lillian (Carol Kane).

Despite its grim backstory, "Unbreakable" is possibly one of the lightest and lovably goofy shows streaming on Netflix.

"'Kimmy Schmidt' has created its own weird little world, one where Greg Kinnear does daytime improv, the cats of 'Cats' can't be trusted, and real musicals like 'The Lion King' are just as relevant as that 'classic' film 'Daddy's Boy,'" wrote Liz Shannon Miller for IndieWire.

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    The IT Crowd
Channel 4's comedy "The IT Crowd" follows an oddball group of IT workers who try to keep their systems running with as little effort and social interaction as possible.

The British series has been praised for its quirky charm and chemistry between the lead actors.

"Their eccentricities also ensure the tone remains unrelentingly wacky, which is a tough energy level to maintain," Brian Lowry wrote for Variety.

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    American Vandal
Like "The Office," Netflix's "American Vandal" is a mockumentary-style comedy series, but this time it's from the perspective of the crew behind the camera.

On the show, which satirizes popular true-crime documentaries, two high-school students take it upon themselves to investigate who vandalized the school parking lot and poisoned the cafeteria food.

"The new season is as compulsively watchable as the first, perhaps even more," Alan Sepinwall wrote for Rolling Stone. "It's more ambitious in scope and in its themes, and the mystery takes on a more concrete air of whodunnit."

  • TV SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE

    Schitt's Creek
When the Rose family abruptly goes bankrupt, they realize that the only asset they have left is a small town they once bought as a joke.

Upon relocating to the quaint town of Schitt's Creek, the once-wealthy Roses and their adult children are forced to reevaluate the important things in life.

"Thank you to 'Schitt's Creek,' for offering up such particular corkscrew kindness, such weird warmth," Richard Lawson wrote for Vanity Fair. "It's a show that, when it hits its affable stride, may be, quite simply, the best."

  • I definitely think of 2010s as the golden age of comedy movies. Let's go through the list of some of the greatest comedy movies from 2010s.
