Two words for hardware today - "Planned obsolescence"

It is an endurance test for sure
Ohh my brother have an amd a4 something in his hp pavilion g4 and believe me that's running better than my asus i5.
We don't need no stinking screws !!
Since this is a New Year Sale, maybe, there's some surprise on page 24. I could be totally off here. As I always say, the chef and dustin work in mysterious ways.
Exactly, why would I cover the beauty up with screws!
Exactly. Although Sony was the first to do that in 2007.
Mines not sturdy, chassis falling apart, i am using a different laptop's fan(modding DIY), the USB 3 port died early, that was not as expected.
I didn't know that. I always assumed it was Apple. With what hardware did Sony introduce the evil?
It has been a good one for sure and had 4 cores in 2013 woot woot
Okay, bro. You can have the laptop. But, how are you going to get it to your place? I mean international shipping.
yeah all aboard

Although his laptop was purchased in 2011 it's ancient and working
A 69-train
The same way, i use parcel forwarding service and pay the import taxes, it's fine
DM me if you want the referral for $10 off on your first shipping
Sony started the idea by making the ribbon cable coating fall apart after 13 to 14 months right after the warranty ran out. Then they would tell you that the MB was bad and charge $1300 to replace it. So people just bought a new one. The real problem was just $5 worth of ribbon cables.
That would be weird
Hi @noob404 -- I would just back up any important files/folders using rsync to a remote destination - or if its not much data, to something like Google Drive. There may be other tools/methods out there, but this is for sure a very safe way
WELCOME TO PAGE 20 !!
Sure, anyways PM me that. Won't be using anytime soon, but, if I do, will definitely signup with your links. But, how's the customs duty in your country? In mine, it's unpredictable.
Exactly, and before that the ribbon cables were like top notch quality even if your hardware damaged the ribbon cables were fine(happened with pavilion g4)
Thank God, we got the Right to repair movement right now. There's this Canadian - Louis Rossman who does cheap Apple repairs and exposes their exorbitant service charges.
Well if you know the tax rates and import codes everything works flawless for me it's about 18%-28% on the product value + shipping charge and if somehow you forget the bill they will assume the price to be highest on the segment.
Will look into it. Rsync might be the only option I guess cause the other option I looked into was Timeshift, but, it could do only partial backups.
Yes, they had a great reputation for durability before 2007, and then they did this. You knew it was planned because tech support would automatically tell people it was their MB that needed to be replaced.
If you don't mind me asking and if you don't mind revealing, what region are you from? For me (India), I have seen the customs charge upto 110-150% of the item.
