Hetzner will block users from Russia

Hello, I received a letter that Hetzner is expelling users from Russia from January 31

Recommend an alternative in the same or similar price range!

We regret to inform you that due to the tense geopolitical situation with Russia, we will be ending our contractual relationship with customers from Russia.

Political decisions have led to changes in the legal regulations that affect our business with Russian-based customers. Unfortunately, we can no longer have contracts with customers with Russian postal addresses. This will affect everyone with a Russian address stored on Hetzner Accounts.

After we analyze the customer databases, we will send the affected customers a notice of termination for all products and services on Friday, 15 December 2023. It will take effect from 31 January 2024. We recommend that you take appropriate measures now.

We very much regret the inconvenience, ask for your understanding in this challenging situation, and thank you for your continued cooperation.

We will answer any questions you may have. Please write to us by logging onto your account on our administration interface and going to “Support” in the menu.

Out of curiosity, how do Russian customers pay for stuff like hosting and domains after 2022? The news told me credit cards and PayPal all stopped to work, does Hetzner accept crypto?

@Kousaka said: does Hetzner accept crypto?

It never did, although they had UnionPay method added

That might work, so they pay via UnionPay cards, thanks for the info

  • @MannDude at Incognet.io does crypto, but don't abuse him, he has a kind soul.

Not through sanctions, but due to a new Russian law, large hosting providers are compelled to establish a presence in Russia, implement SORM, and grant direct access to the FSB for customer data, etc.

  • Fuck them. Hetzner has a lot of young workers immigrating from Ukraine now.

Instead of fighting for their homeland, they start doing nonsense. And in general, hardly anyone has the desire to send them their documents for verification and other nonsense.

Now there are a lot of opportunities to get a foreign bank card for Russians. Many neighboring countries are using this successfully. From Russian banking apps, you can directly transfer to many non-Western countries instantly and with minimal fees. China. Iran and others.

Everything works even better than before.

@jenkki I know that payments are still possible between RU clients and EU businesses, but thru Iran? Any Iranian business larger than a barbershop is embargoed.

Try StainCloud, they opened in Germany two days ago. Only email is required to register. Name and personal data are not asked.

StainCloud supports the principles of free internet, we refuse from tracking and verification of clients, we announce the relocation of servers and closing of location in Moscow.

Due to the new laws of the Russian Federation, we are forced to move all virtual servers from Russia to Europe.

We provide two options for relocation:
        1) Copying and moving your server to Germany with a change of IP-address, with data preservation. Copying time can be up to 24 hours, during this time the server will be inactive.

        2) Providing a similar but empty server in Germany, corresponding to your current server in Moscow.

Paid days for the server will be saved and transferred to a new location + bonus

Please choose the migration method and write in this ticket.

Also for all questions and quick answers you can write to telegram
        support @StainBro
Migration must be completed by 19.12.2023

All CIS countries still have Visa and Mastercards enabled. India, Serbia etc.

A lot of foreign sellers of goods in Russia clothing, electronics and etc. mostly from China have accounts in Russian banks so that to buy ,,sanctioned,, by west goods directly from China on Russian bank cards MIR and etc. in general is not a problem nowadays.

  • @Kousaka said: accept crypto?

Opera Browser even blocked their Crypto Wallet for Russian users What more do you want from the wild west?

And someone else is talking about the freedom and independence of Cryptocurrency. The same punitive policies of the owners.

One more reason I'm happy to not be a Hetzner customer. The other reason: I was quite neutral to open wrt Hetzner - until I got access to one of their VPS (ca. €5/mo), benchmarked it and found it ... rather mediocre.

It is not true. This law applies to local hosting and applies only to services offered in Russia.

But foreign services that are visited by more than 500,000 people from Russia per month must have a representative office in Russia. This law is called "landing in Russia". It is similar to EU laws that protect customers' personal data and so on.

The same applies to value added tax. Many foreign companies have already registered in Russia and sent VAT amounts from clients from Russia by money transfers to Russia before the start of the sanctions orgy.

Don't you run Pfcloud's subbrand for selling Minecraft server hosting? You might want to update your LET status to reflect that. Besides that, Pfcloud is quite reliable. However, their upstream provider, Tubehosting, might blackhole your IP if they dislike you.

And yet you are not complaining about this, freedom warrior:

You're a tedious troll but you could at least be consistent.

    But! But!

But if Eu-rope does it, it's democracy, freedom, basic rights!
If Russia does the same thing it's obviously a wading through blood dictator Putin who found a new way to terrorize people and stifle the free market!
