LET Mobile App?

MukulWMukulW Member, Host Rep

Why there isn't any LET mobile app?

Coming home after a hectic day and wanting to catch up on LET members clashes would be really convenient over mobile.

Also, Advertisers can pay extra for displaying ads on mobiles thus LET can make few extra bucks.

Thoughts? @FAT32

  • Web is good enough, and why do you want more ads?

  • Always web, having a standalone app is not needed unless you are doing something exclusively possible on mobile apps.

    But why?

More ads = more revenue 😉

  • I really doubt LET/LEB content will be accepted by Google/Apple store guidelines.

  • Mobile App requires money - developing, maintaining, publishing in App Stores (yes, you need to pay for that, in case of Apple $100/yr)

    LET is:

    • non-dynamic
    • very fast, so there wont be improvement on native vs website
    • very light on resources (small avatars, not much images, no "typical SPA" bloat)

So what problem would mobile app solve?

LET problems that I'm aware of (such as very bad and slow search engine or lack of realtime messaging/typing indicators) cannot be fixed by app, these are server-sided things.

So would you rather get mobile app or get these problems fixed?

I have another idea - what about LET image hosting, instead of linking images that will eventually die? Just drag 'n drop images into comment and it works. That would also increase user activity or increase quality of comments and would cost way less money than mobile app.
