They're all hosted in the center of The Netherlands close to Amsterdam, our country is small so the physical location doesn't matter - it'll be the network upstreams that effect the route

It's changed to 2GB now. They said on the OG forum that it applied to anyone who bought it earlier. Try rebooting your VPS via the panel may help.

Yes, all VPSes that got affected by this have already been updated to the correct specs. Just a quick reboot is all which is needed if you still see 1GB of memory in the OS.

Can you then set more bandwidth then on the 2023BF-NVME-2 ? Like 15tb ?

  • That looks great. What is the port speed for 2023BF-NVME-2? Is there any YABS or network-speed.xyz for it?

    Many thanks

The plans are as-is, but you can always order an additional bandwidth block. Or simply upgrade the VPS to a regular plan
We currently also have 100/250/1000Mbps unmetered bandwidth deals going for NVME VPSes with 2GB RAM. It might be worth checking these out if you're looking into pushing more bandwidth

Sorry, I'm still confused. :-) @LiteServer Please enlighten me.

There are these two deals that looks similar, what is the CPU type of NVME-2G, please?
Other than double storage and 5TB more bandwidth, is there any advantage to the NVME-2G over the 2023BF-NVME-2 deal? (Network speed perhaps etc?)

    #NVME-2G
    - 2 CPU Cores
    - 2 GB RAM
    - 40 GB NVMe RAID-10 Storage
    - 15 TB bandwidth / month
    €30,41 including 20% VAT

    and

    2023BF-NVME-2
    RAM; 2 GB
CPU Cores; 2 (AMD EPYC 9754)
    Storage; 20GB NVME RAID-10
Bandwidth; 10TB bandwidth per month, once reached 10Mbps unmetered
    IP; 1 IPv4 + /64 IPv6
    €24 including 20% VAT

    Thank you

  • Do old customers also get CPU upgrade?

DDoS protection will become available at a later moment, it's on our roadmap.
For now, you'll have to use a firewall on your VPS to block traffic.

  • The best offer of Black Friday.

Oh, I noticed the same! On new nodes the disk IOPS are noticeably less.

    I have ~3000 4K W IOPS @ 2022BF-HDD-1 and ~800 4K W IOPS @ 2023BF-STORAGE-1.

They said in support that 800 IOPS is still very good for an HDD, which could be true. But still feels a bit sad to had less performance on a new bigger VPS...

I think they put strict IOPS limits on new nodes of this BF (150 on smaller, 800 on bigger, and on NVME too).

During Black Friday our HDD hypervisors are more busy then they used to do. It doesn't really help either if people keep running benchmarks all the time, as this would make things just worse.
800+ IOPS for random IO is actually pretty good for HDD storage, you need to be realistic as a single drive that you won't be sharing with others will only do 150-200 IOPS max for random IO
If IO performance is so important for you, HDD is not really the type of storage matching your needs - NVME SSD all the way

We stopped offering large scale HDD offerings during Black Friday 2023 because of this. People keep running benchmarks, go full throttle on the IO all at the same time, and still expect SSD performance for a HDD service without understanding the HDD technique and load situation. The arrays are being flooded with random IO done by VMs, and that's something HDD drives don't like as they can do only 1 read/write at a time.
We did some last minute HDD specials during Black Friday as people where begging for storage plans, but 2023 was actually the first year we considered not doing any HDD storage deal at all.

Based on feedback/complaints and unrealistic expectations, I think we really should consider stop offering HDD storage deals for Black Friday at all from now. But we'll have a thought about it - we have almost 12 months left for Black Friday 2024 :#

Please don't stop such offers. Put in caveats, or even stagger deploys (or give users a choice to get deployed later once the noise shuts down).

There are many users who know the (post) BF-surge in overall theatrics (and support queues) and are more than willing to be patient esp. when the provider is reputable and provides stellar quality such as .... LiteServer
