Probably because Debian has been massively going down the drain over the last couple of years. By now even the latest Devuan release is partly unusable and they try to un-garbage Debian.
Don't ask me for a solution though. On servers i'll probably stick to Devuan for now as the breakage mainly concerns desktop stuff but in the long they are likely to fuck up servers too and then what? Void? Some BSD? Future is looking bleak my friend.

Well, it depends. If you look at Hetzner for example their prices have gone up like crazy. What was a VPS there a couple years ago? 2,30€? Now it's 4,50€. Server auction is fixed at like 34€ now? This is maddness.

Yup, also noticed their cloud prices seems to have adjusted plenty times in small changes each time.
Also, cloud providers indirectly higher prices by first having modern HW, and when it gets old and slow, keep it the same price but launch fancy AMD stuff as premium, and charge more, but it’s really not premium at all compared to the Xeon’s when they were launched.
I feel like all major clouds do this.
