It is not checked against other user comments, and if you quote someone, quotes are also stripped out, only your original comment is considered. And there are two ways the comment can be similar: 90% of your message is similar to your previous, or there is up to 3 (including) characters different. The second part is basically added for these "Page 123" and "Page 124", difference is only 1, but since the message is only 8 characters long, similarity is only 87.5%, which is unfair for short messages.

Was under the impression that only consecutive comments are checked for similarity. Like comment 1 and 2 but not 1 and 4 as otherwise there would be a lot of combinations to check.
That would open a possibility to loop your comments
The only problem with that is, that the longer the thread is online, the more active members are, the more check has to be done 
But RN VM is coping with that really well, and it is still almost idling

You don't have to do anything. BUT have in mind, that these messages where users just quote double bandwidth requests, and tag Dustin, the quote is removed, and original message is only tagging Dustin, so these messages would be similar
