I know that I am late to the party on this, but just finished most of the installs on my new RN 7950X VPS and wanted to post a yabs. Pretty slick stuff there Dustin. I'm looking forward to these beasts in other locations sometime in the future.

YABS ( I expect that Clouvider is limiting speed on the network speed test)

Hi @FrankZ -- AMAZING results :) Thank You for sharing this, and I hope you enjoy your new 7950X VPS. We are also looking forward to expanding out this product line to additional locations, very soon.

P.S. No doubt that YABS is certainly gaining in popularity lately (especially with so many running it around this time of the year), and a lot of spinoffs of the script on Github too, etc which use the same public iperf3 test servers. Definitely a great script for I/O and CPU related tests. Though in my opinion, a better network speedtest for the meantime would probably be a network oriented speedtest script, such as:

    curl -sL network-speed.xyz | bash -s -- -r na

So... I got the new Ryzen 7950X VM already. This will take over current stats VM (I still have 6 months to migrate, but at some point this will happen...)

    Old server (Dallas) YABS: https://www.vpsbenchmarks.com/yabs/racknerd-1c-1gb-90afe9
New server (New York) YABS: https://www.vpsbenchmarks.com/yabs/racknerd-1c-1gb-6748e8

Disk speed is much better, up to 2x, but download speed doesn't look too good. Maybe the host is being hammered by new customers, but download speed is 1/2 of the Dallas instance... Of course, for serving page download doesn't matter, and upload looks great, but I guess I will have to run yabs later to see the real world case :)

Now philosophical question to members - since the VM is free, should I still request for double bandwidth? :) Current VM has used 8GB this month, I don't feel like I would need more than 2.5TB, but when it is offered, should I?.. Would you?.. :)

Hi @MrEd -- Good stuff, and happy to hear you're pleased with the new performance overall. We're happy to double your bandwidth on it, for extra peace of mind if desired.

With regards to YABS network results, I addressed this in an earlier comment here: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3754191/#Comment_3754191

For any VPS around this time of the year, whether that be with us or another provider, I probably wouldn't give too much weight on the network related sections of the YABS script. It certainly is a fantastic tool for measuring Disk I/O and CPU related results (as those sections are not dependent on any external factors), but for network, its coded based off external, public iperf3 servers that have gotten embedded/incorporated into so many benchmarking scripts/spin-offs on Github over the years. Not to mention, all the folks testing from those iperf3 test servers (be that from YABS or any other spin-offs) around this time of the year, with many Black Friday VPS deployments etc.

Network is always an interesting subject, since the results also depend on the performance and congestion of the remote destination (in this case, the iperf3 servers). The only real way to accurately measure network speed is to set up your own dedicated iperf3 server where there is no congestion or other factors at play. Though I realize that isn't always convenient or possible. For the meantime, I've found the below script by @sh97 to be a better representation of actual network speeds to expect in the real world:

    curl -sL network-speed.xyz | bash -s -- -r na

@dustinc , please double my bandwidth. Order number: 8488698024 :)

Lets say I would have used like 25GB out of 2.5TB, thats 1% of my limit, so now I will be using 0.5% :D
