Excited to be apart of the community! I'll be ordering a Racknerd VPS soon. My intention is to use it to remotely monitor my home network with Uptime Kuma. What else do you guys use your VPS for?

welcome! I think my next racknerd vps will be for a "disposable" test environment. fresh install > replicate a current server set up > test new stuff > push to current server > wipe and start over

personally i just use a VM inside VMware for that purpose

I suppose it might depend on what you're testing and for what length of time

mmm this probably makes more sense. but this way I get to "justify" a new VPS purchase ;)

in environments where resources are limited (ie 1 cpu vcore/<1GB ram/<20GB drive space) would this method still be viable? running a VM on the same machine

Well not really. Maybe docker, in that case?

@dustinc in reseller plan is possible dedicated ip and jetbackup reseller "to configure my backup server to save my backups" I currently have this function in JetBackup "I think it's very important to have your own backups."

Hi @KinderOvO -- With our shared/reseller hosting product line, we have JetBackup V5 configured to perform offsite backups daily to Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage (which is separate/offsite from our infrastructure). While we do not support clients specifying their own destinations in JetBackup with a reseller hosting account, we do support the ability to view these backups in real time within the JetBackup V5 interface (for peace of mind that the backups are actually being performed to Wasabi), in addition with the ability to download the backups locally.

gotcha. I have started using docker more and it's very convenient. I may have to look into VMware also, haven't used anything like that before

It doesn't sound like their PC is viable for testing if they're limited to a single core and less than 1GB of RAM. Simple services might be testable using a lighter container, like docker though.

Yeah, I could definitely use a new laptop. However, I'm no where near the top, nor the worst spammer in this thread ;)
