Two more 0.99 coupons which work for new reg / transfer internationally:

    ROCKET99

    gofdc010

If anyone gets a cheaper deal on private registrations please let me know ;)

  • That one didn't work for me, here's one that did work for me:

    godaddy.com/domains/search.aspx?isc=SMB99F

Usually I just check domainpricemonitor.com/domain-com-coupon.aspx for $1 coupons.

Hey, noticed Godaddy is having a sale on .com domains for 99 cents first year, thereafter 9.99/yr renewal..

It is actually $1.17 and subsequent renewals $15.17

Ah.. I see what you are saying, thanks for pointing that out.

Not sure where you are getting $15.17? renewals is $9.99.. It's on the picture above..

These are not renewals but simply increased prices for additional years at the registration.

    Renewals are $15.17
    https://www.godaddy.com/domains/popups/chart.aspx?ci=17607

  • So Godaddy increased their price on regular domain rate?

Well for this promotion renewal is still $9.99 + ICANN fee of 18 cents, Most times godaddy will email you coupons anyways that you can use on renewing your domain..

    Here is the offer limitations:

*Plus ICANN fee of $0.18 per domain name per year. $0.99 price good for the first year of one new or transfer .COM per customer. Additional years or .COMs may be purchased for $9.99 per year. Discounts cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. Customers may not use gift cards, In-Store Credit, Skrill, PayPal® or AliPay to redeem this offer. After the first year, discounted products will renew at the then-current renewal list price. Your discount will be applied in your shopping cart. Offer valid for customers in the US and Canada only. Go Daddy reserves the right to deny use of this offer and/or cancel domains purchased using this offer if the offer is abused or used fraudulently, as determined by Go Daddy in its sole discretion.

It is still not a renewal. The promo price for the first year is $1.17, every subsequent year you purchase at the same time is $10.17 and then when you actually renew the price is $15.17.

Honestly, in all the years that I have been with godaddy, I have never renewed a godaddy domain at the regular price, especially if it's more than $9.99/yr!.. there is lots of coupons available for renewals.. and after the first year if you wish to keep the domain I would probably transfer to internet.bs so you get free whois or even namecheap.

I am not objecting to whether you can eventually transfer out or not. I was just referring to the actual pricing ;)

Point taken.. but after the first year who honestly would stay with godaddy? Actually I think there is a 6 months grace period, but after that I believe you are free to transfer your domain.

I don't really bother with godaddy cause I prefer to get the free whois with internet.bs. with the $8 that godaddy charges for private whois internet.bs don't really look too bad.

Everyone hates godaddy but loves to buy from them too, I am not referring to anyone here but I want you guys to know something about namecheap which is equally bad or worse.

I have a domain with namecheap & it expired because out of the 50 domains I have with various providers I forgot to change my credit card details. I had once transferred an expired domain from godaddy to another registrar because godaddy wanted heavy fees for renewal/stuff. However, godaddy allowed me to transfer the domain without the slightest hesitation, despite post expiry date. When the same came to namecheap they told me they won't transfer & I must renew to continue the domain !!

GoDaddy is way better than these 'fake' do-gooders like namecheap.

  • Does GoDaddy spam your e-mail/phone, etc?

Even though it is cheaper in absolute numbers I would still go with namesilo.com. No point in giving godaddy even one cent, let alone 99

I can't really say one company is really better than the other, I guess it depends on what you need at the time.. But it's good to hear that godaddy will let you transfer with ease..

Don't think I ever received a phone call.. but if you consider them sending you coupons or mail regarding the status of your whois info spam then yes they do that.

Name silo offers a $1 discount on their regular prices with the following coupons :

    NODADDY

    SILODEAL

This is valid for registration and transfer of biz , co , com , info, me, mobi, net, org extensions.

so .com transfer/registration with free privacy + free domain protection +free icann fee will be $7.39 only

Funny, I have a similar story but with GoDaddy forcing a renewal.

All registrars seem to be as bad as each other (aside from 123-reg).
