NY1 Emergency Maintenance (ReliableSite)
There is currently a partial outage in our NY1 facility caused by a fiber break between PNJ and 165 Halsey. Zayo has taken offline the ring to perform a repair.

Is your website hosted there?
My browser is looped at Cloudflare JS Challenge:

Well guess that changes the work plan for this morning then
@death that outage looks very partial indeed
Site loads fine here.
Interesting, I have tested from 3 different browsers and ISP's and always had looped JS challenge and later a timeout banner from cloudflare.
I don't even load the JS challenge, whole domain times out
Website is loading fine from California, including live chat.
Thank you for the information @MrRadic
At least it can give an idea to me and my clients.
Do you have an estimate of how long it will take to solve this?
or perhaps at least a possible estimate of when new information will be available?
Regards
Hmm really interesting now, on my NA server it loads fine, but on my NL server it doesnt load at all. Same issue as yours.
I couldn't connect from Asia and I checked that most of the connections from Europe were also disconnected.
I hope there will be significant progress as soon as possible.
All of the information is in the screenshot of the tweet.
You and me both. I've sent notifications to clients, stating 6 hours as a rough ETA. Live chat agent told me "should be resolved soon". @MrRadic Will you update this post when things are resolved / ETA is available? Thank you!
That's a first
Kudos! That's how top providers act. They inform as early as possible.
The maintenance has been extended until 10:30 AM Eastern Time. Regular status updates are available at https://tranzact.zayo.com/#!/case-detail/5004z00001tVV9sAAG/TTN-0007089358/
The tweet was indeed fast, just published 16s before I had a look at Twitter
Also kudos for posting here @MrRadic, well done.
But it still reminds us that we are waiting for a status.reliablesite.net page for months... (which should also lower unnecessary support tickets when outages occur).
Any chance to email your effected customers? Saw all the downtime notifications from Hetrix
Tip: if anyone has e.g. a VPS at Interserver or OVH BHS (probably others as well), those still can reach NY1 at RS, so you may try building a tunnel/proxy/bridge/whatever as some peering routes (that probably don't use 165 Halsey?) are still up.
It is very strange that a big provider like reliablesite not even have alternate route in case of fiber issue. They are only relaying on zayo. They must have an alternate plan as well.
Definitely sucks. Currently moving my non-sale reliablesite servers to OVH virginia. Shits been down for me since 5:40AM EST. Say what you may about OVH's customer service (reliablesite's is not much better), their network uptime is top tier.
They cut our alternate route...the main route has been damaged for over a day now. We were operating on the alternate route....
Both are from zayo? That’s still a single point of failure as one carrier dependent with two separate path? No way to get another carrier via another route ?
Very good questions!!!!
more than 2hrs without zayo updates, they said they were on the last section out of six
Was close to buying a dedi in NY1 with their promo. Not too sure now.
Downtime happens everywhere, the question is just what the reason is, how it's acted upon and how the communication is handled by the provider.
Sounds like a good one to bring up when contract renewal comes around and they try to jack up the prices.
We're actively monitoring Zayo's updates and are putting some alternatives in motion in case they can't bring everything back up very soon. Social media will be updated regularly.
