Looking for server for WireGuard VPN
Hello, I’m looking for a server under $50/month for a WireGuard VPN to route all traffic from my homelab network.
• Location: preferably Finland or Netherlands, or some other DMCA-ignored region without censorship close to Moscow.
• System: preferably UEFI instead of legacy BIOS.
• CPU/RAM doesn’t really matter for VPN as long as it’s not potato, ARM is OK as long as it is UEFI.
• Disk: around 40GB should be enough, I’m running NixOS and Nix store likes to eat disk space without regular garbage collection.
• Bandwidth: 1Gbps, unmetered, although 50TB would probably be enough. I can reach 1Gbps on my residential connection so I don’t want VPN to be the bottleneck.
• IPv6 subnet: at least /60 (e.g. /48 or /56), though I can probably manage with multiple /64.
• IPv4: single address is enough, I’ll be running NAT44.
An option to use crypto for payment would be nice but not required. Unfortunately, not Hetzner because they terminate accounts for Russian residents.

Did you mean dedi or VPS?
Do you need provider located exactly outside Russia?
Hey, we can offer you this VDS in the Netherlands:
For just €35.99/mo or €359.99/yr
Check it out at: https://retslav.nl/vds/187443/
@jenkki
I don’t really care, but dedi is seems to be easier to find with these requirements, although the ones I’ve found are missing at least one point from this list (Hetzner dedi is a great match, but doesn’t let me sign up without lying about location and etc).
Yes, ideally, Russian providers are subject to censorship laws that require them to install DPI equipment to filter traffic. For example, I can’t
curl https://medium.com
, and a lot of other things. How about Russian providers who offer locations outside Russia as rent, or? Same things?
Such these - https://cp.inferno.name/cart.php -OR- https://4vps.su
Yes, these should be fine (at least for now).
I’ve been trying out Finland VDS at aeza.net, but the speeds are lower than I want. That could be because it’s, well, shared VDS bandwidth. What’s weird is that they provide /48 subnet on VDS but only /64 on dedicated servers (and they offered additional /64 subnets in support ticket but not /48 or /56).

For comparison, tests from one of the devices connected to the router on my residential connection (I didn’t stop media server before running tests so upload speeds are likely lower than expected):
bench.sh
yabs.sh
creanova
Thanks, I don’t think they offer anything larger than /64 prefix?
talk to the creanova guys
Maybe @HostSlick ?
Inferno located in UK (as they wrote) and install OS manually after payment. I guess you book everything to them for install.
4vps located in Simferopol Rep. of Crimea. Not sure about other things but better DMCA ignored region no one can find Can rent for one hour or one day for test.
Yes, I’ve contacted them and they have /48 long-term offer (not a one-time setup fee like Hetzner, but good enough). Both VPS and dedi are reasonably priced too. Seems like good option if VPSs have advertised bandwidth, will try.
Neat.

I've been using https://deephost.pw/vps-russia/ for a while now and they seem to be reliable.
I've tried
curl https://medium.com
and it gave me no SSL error as other Russian VPS I have. So if you want a VPS inside Russia, you can maybe try (I have the cheapest plan, I'm not sure it can burst up to 1Gbit)Some notes: IPv6 seems to be a paid addon (their prices are not really high though)
You may want to ask about UEFI support
Latency:
(also, very nice network you got on your home, I can barely reach 100Mbit outside EU)

@tie what you can do is get any size of a vps and run a script that configures wireguard for you wireguard is very light weight on its own 'with no gui' but there are also other projects out there for a gui if you would like one.
Hi @tie ,
We can offer you this for 3,50€/m

As babywhale said, you can run a setup script for wireguard on a VPS that will configure it for you. We also accept crypto (BTC, LTC and XMR) as a payment method.

Hi,
I think our cloud server can meet your need, please check sp offer from:
https://www.silicloud.com/activity/vps
Any question, feel free to pm me.
Sincerely,
SICloud,
Can you stop just copy pasting your reply on all threads? He has some requirements, and your VPS from Tokyo or LA is nowhere near Moscow.
We can resell Hetzner servers if you are interested in.
Our seedboxes you can setup WireGuard in Docker, and for more perf grab one of our minis, cheapest MD1 happens to be in stock too: https://pulsedmedia.com/minidedi-dedicated-servers-finland.php
For IPv6 use a tunnel, so MD1 is your best choice.
Crypto accepted too.
