Assistance Interpreting smartctl results
Hi all, I have never run smartctl tests before.
Bought a couple used disk off fleabay. Trying to understand if this disk is in good health? Any red flags I need to be concerned... Do I need to run any other commands/ tests?
Any pointers are appreciated...

Comments
Good, pwn it until it's cooked. Nothing wrong seen.
The Seagate is fine - but unless it's infrequently used (e.g. external disk occasionally plugged), it's probably better to lower (or disable) any (overly aggressive) head parking setting, or else the Load Cycle Count skyrockets.
I am not sure if I follow... it's something in an always on system currently.... what do these settings mean and how to set?
Thanks
Head parking "parks safely" the heads of the HDD whenever it is not accessed (especially useful for external disks: if shaking or dropping the device while the heads are hanging above the surface doing nothing, they could scratch the surface...)
Setting it very low ("park the heads 2 seconds after the last hdd access") is the default with some brands or models; depending on your usage (access frequency, mobile vs. fixed...) the heads may park continuously, causing (tiny) delays upon subsequent access, as well as mechanical wear and faster failure. Check the 'Load Cycle Count' value (number of times the heads were parked) to see how fast it increases while you use the disk normally.
It can be adjusted (or disabled if hdd never moves or vibrates, and access is fairly constant - no parking needed then) with various tools, e.g. hdparm or smartctl under linux.
You can disable APM if you don't want it to be parking heads. You can disable it through hdparm (hdparm -B 255 /dev/sdX). You can also fiddle around with setting the suspend time (hdparm -S) or AAM (hdparm -M).
Your drive is showing up as a internal laptop drive, so both AAM and APM should be present and enabled, and its settings might be quite aggressive as they are intended for laptops.
If you end up setting AAM/APM to a non-default, you'll want to make a rc.local or make a systemd unit to set it on boot/wake up.
And if using a recent smartmontools to monitor hard disk health (e.g. by enabling the smartd service), there are settings in smartd.conf (-e apm,off -e aam,254 for example) (check first with smartctl -s apm,off -s aam,254 to see which settings work)

Thanks so much for the information... the senate will be on an always powered on system, idling mainly but always ON.
In that case what do you recommend to set the settings to? Also, it's running Windows Server 2022 standard. If you can share command for that too, it will be great.
Thanks again
