Looking for a Dedicated server with an iGPU in AU
Hi all,
First post here so hopefully I get things right ![]()
Recently I was looking at purchasing a RISE-LE-1 from OVH Cloud in AU.
https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/bare-metal/rise/rise-le-1/
This was because it was an affordable machine for me, offered an iGPU that I could use for a remote Plex host, and in general had the specs I was looking for from a machine that I'd be using as a remote Plex host and just generally to play around with. It had a Xeon-E-2274G with 4c/8t, 32GB of RAM, 2x SSDs and I think a 1Gbps port which may have been burstable.
The above page no longer works and I can't recall the exact specs sorry. That server is no longer available through OVH anymore, understandable as it was Limited Edition, so I'm seeking an alternative. OVH's Advance-1 server, listed here:
https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/bare-metal/advance/adv-1/
Would actually work fine for me, however it's only available in India (which they still class as an APAC region for some reason) and latency to India from Australia isn't great; about 300ms or so for me. I was also considering the Rise-3, listed here:
https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/bare-metal/rise/rise-3/
However this is not available in Australia. If you filter the bare-metal servers that OVH has available in their Australia datacentre on their website, there's not many options with iGPUs. Their cheapest one is the above Advance-1, which is only available in India. There's the Rise-1 but this lacks an iGPU, so my cheapest option would be the Rise-3 which, again, isn't available in Australia.
So I'm hoping someone can help me out with options. Specifically what I'm looking for is something like the below:
CPU: Intel Xeon or Core-equivalent, minimum 4 physical cores, with a 600 series iGPU or better. Examples include the Xeon E-2146G, 2246G and 2274G.
RAM: Preferably 32GB with the option to upgrade to 64GB later. At minimum 16GB with the option to upgrade to 32GB.
Storage: SSD of some form, minimum 250GB but preferably 500GB total.
Network: Preferably a 1Gbps port, burstable or sustained. Open to other options. IPv6 is not necessary.
Bandwidth: Really any amount >1TB, preferably as much as possible.
Location: Either Sydney Melbourne or Brisbane, Australia
I'm a fairly technical user, I maintain my own homelab and multiple Windows, Linux and TrueNAS Scale machines so am fine with something unmanaged. This will primarily be a sandbox/testing machine for me but I may in the future shift services I currently host (e.g. Plex) into the cloud on this machine, hence the need for the iGPU.
Hetzner has multiple perfect options for me, including ones that can be made-to-order within my budget ($100 AUD/mth give or take, willing to pay more for the right box) however these are in Europe and latency to Europe-hosted services also isn't great for me.
I may, however, in the future, take up a Hetzner storage box and connect this AU server to the Hetzner one in AU to run all the compute workloads domestically and have cheap bulk storage in EU. I'm undecided on this however; I need a server to start with, after all.
Thanks in advance!

Try looking at these maybe.
This for example isn't too bad on price and mostly fits what you want, besides no SSD: https://www.leaseweb.com/bare-metal-server/configure/32168
I think you won't notice the HDDs if you put them in SW RAID 1 though as the read throughput will be decent, especially if your use is mostly plex.
Otherwise I think you will need to wait for OVH to have that adv-1 server back in Australia, as they did have it there before.

Maybe the top two clearance ones work for you? Core i7-7700K with two SSD and an HDD, 64GB memory for 80 USD(?). That i7 I think has Intel 630 graphics.
Thanks for the suggestions all! Will take a look
