[Hardware] Back to Back Chassis (2 Chassis in a 1U)

MrRadicMrRadic Patron Provider, Veteran

Hey all, something different than you typically see in LET.

Our hardware manufacturing leg has been spun off into it's own brand and we've set aside a small amount of chassis for resale purposes (the remaining are being used by and sold to RS). My intention is to get these out to a diverse number of people versus selling everything to a single customer. This helps us get a wider variety of feedback for any potential future improvements.

Design (see website for the full animation): Each server is 100% independent of each other and can be serviced separately.

Compatibility (see website for the full animation): Compatible with most mATX and full ATX boards. Supports both passive cooling and the dynatron liquid coolers.

Heat (see website for the full animation): We use air shrouds to separate cold and hot air, so the temperature sensitive components in the rear chassis receive only cold air.

Pricing: $799
Includes:
2 x Chassis
2 x Power Supplies
6 x Counter Rotating Fans
Rails
Details: https://www.boothardware.com

To order, either message me here, or fill out the contact form on the website.

Note: This company is not affiliated with RS beyond myself. Please please please, don't let this thread stray off topic.

We have the following backplate available for the LGA1700 to allow you to use LGA1150 (and similar) heatsinks. We aren't selling these on the website, but some of you custom builders may be interested.

These are made of metal, powder coated black.

Definitely interesting, have you got some more specific measurements for the racks they’d be compatible in?

Looks like a great way to lower footprint!

It's compatible with standard 4 post racks. The maximum rack depth (distance between the front and rear posts) is 34 3/8".

    Perfect, thanks!

  • Interesting, we used to do the same thing with SC512 chassis from supermicro but in EU the power pricing made it not interesting.
(one rack with 32 amps of power was more expensive than 2 racks with 16 amps...)

This tends to vary by data center, some data centers are more dense and space costs more than power.

  • What's the storage situation? Expecting onboard NVMe only or there's mounting holes for a single 3.5"? Turn the PCI slots into a hot-swap bay and you've got gold.

It supports both 3.5" and 2.5" drives, shoot me a DM, I'll send you the manual.

It's probably doing more harm than good listing them at $799 a unit, what's the real price that you give when a prospective customer gets in touch?

It's not $799 per unit, it's $799 for a set of 2 chassis, 2 power supplies, rails, etc. That's the price we sell them at and what each and every single one has been sold at. There are no pricing games here.

We're not entering the market competing on price, the companies buying this understand the use case for these and that they're made to squeeze out additional margin.

They aren't for every company or every use case, but those that are in the situation of where space isn't cheap or where they have a ton of cheap or committed to power they can't consume, this allows them to do so without using any proprietary platforms. Basically it ends up being a purchase that continues to generate profit forever.

We have a bracket coming soon that will allow you to throw a passive Intel Scalable heat sink (typically rated @ 205W TDP) on an AM4/AM5 socket.
