Zonomi DNS and LuaDNS opinions

I'm still looking for alternative DNS options (besides the big players) and I've started testing out Bunny.net too ( I asked about Bunny.net in this thread if interested: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/184187/bunny-net-dns-opinions ) but I just ran across Zonomi DNS and LuaDNS, and both seem like nice but very small services with a small staff, but they have some great features and good prices, including a free option. Any thoughts?

I can't find any real reviews, so I'm wondering if any of you have opinions or experience with them?

Thank you!

  • I have been a customer of Zonomi or Rimu (they operate Zonomi) since 2006. It is reliable and they do what they say. Main downside of Zonomi is no anycast servers, so lookup time isn't always the best. API is good and it integrates with certbot and good for DDNS. Pricing can be a bit high compared to others, but depends on your needs. Support has been excellent (both fast and high-quality - they tend not to employ imbeciles).

Thank you! That's a great review!

  • I use KeyHelp (free) server control panel for 8 domains to serve my domain DNS needs.

Interesting, I haven't heard of that one before. So are you running the control panel and DNS service itself on your own server (as in, you are self-hosting your own DNS), or does it interact with a third-party DNS service?

    Consider Zilore DNS: https://zilore.com/

I've been using them since 2015 or so, zero issues so far.

Thank you! Yes, they are on my list to evaluate! (My list if curious is somewhere in this thread: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/184187/bunny-net-dns-opinions )
