I am new to Racknerd and somewhat to LEBs too, so I have some newb questions. I come from experience with shared hosting, but it's time to have root!

I manage a shared host for serving a website or three. Not much traffic, but it's higher cost than even a 2.5GB KVM VPS with Racknerd. Separately, I want to begin self-hosting a variety of apps, such as Mattermost and Focalboard -- this is mostly for internal use of my business, not for clients.

    1. Would it be a good idea to switch the shared hosting to the VPS and consolidate it all in one place? The only reason for this would be to save money. Everything else is working fine.

    2. What is the right spec'd VPS for a good Mattermost experience? If I want some headroom to add Nextcloud in the future, what would be the right what would be the minimum recommended?

    3. My client is East Coast USA and I'm on the West Coast. Should I locate the VPS in US Central?

Thanks for any suggestions and for tolerating some broad questions about Racknerd before I commit and buy the deal.

If you can't manage and secure the server the move would be terrible choice, also you will be required to atleast have some basic linux terminology before you can even setup your VPS. as for your second question i don't use mattermost but if you are thinking going public with lot of users on mattermost a minimum 4GB RAM server is required. Nextcloud works fine even with 1GB RAM but if you increase the users so does the resources need to be upgraded.

As for third question, get any location you want just make sure it falls under 60ms latency if it's on same continent or region. Good luck with your adventure!

Thanks for the help. I took the plunge. Order number: 8097904662 in case @dustinc is checking. Decided on a San Jose datacenter with 31.843 ping.

Sounds amazing, good luck with your adventure!

I was so pleased with the VPS, after watching Piotr's video on quality shared hosting, I decided to add some Racknerd shared hosting. Order number is 7495189918.
