    218 is the number of inequivalent ways to color the 12 edges of a cube using at most 2 colors, where two colorings are equivalent if they differ only by a rotation of the cube.

    By the way, interesting fact (from my practice), a permutation of these numbers - 127 and 271 (I don't know about 721 or 712) are also centered hexagonal numbers. 127 is also used in one of my projects :)

    what kind of project are we talking about?

    For the last 5 years in my company I am hosting a competition on Programmers Day. And this year (2023) will be a modified game of Battleships, where the board is a hexagonal grid and total amount of cells to place your ships or shoot them is 127 :)
