    Giveaway some hard drives?

That would be a hard ask

Whether it is expressing a solid state drive or adding a hard drive to a vps, it will not be more difficult than expressing a charger

Nothing is difficult if you pay

SLC SSD is just fucking costly even if i look for 64GB or less, can't find any in reasonable price!

    How much is it ?

around $150 for 64GB shipping and import duty is extra, it will cross $200 just for a 64GB!

Real question is do you need SLC SSDs for normal usage.

I want SLC for swap partition, fast and durable but costly, one idea was that i seek used SLC but the venture went futile used SLCs especially small capacity ones are as rare as unicorns!

  • SLC giveaway For TrK

  • TrKTrK Member

I am also looking for MLC like SP600 but also can't find them available nearby or online, without getting them imported!

  • TrKTrK Member

The MLCs available(real 2 bit MLC not 3bit MLC like in samsung pro series) are either too costly going as far as $100 for 128GB or just missing specs to know if it's even MLC or not.

  • TrKTrK Member

well if i can't find any SLC or MLC i might just cheap TLC, costs around $15 for 128GB and see how long does $15 TLC will run and replace if faulty not efficient but only a thought i will consider if i really can't find any pure SLC or MLC.

Building a server at home, and expose it to the internet using cloudflare tunnels, gotta have a backup server at home so all the important data is backed up at my place.

And i did find one used SLC in the second hand market but the drive health was detoriated it had only a little health remaining but was seriously cheap like $150 for 1TB, i didn't get it though detoriated disks are same as getting a TLC although i can get a TLC 1TB under $100.

If it is for personal use does it make a big difference?

typically not, but the use case is entirely different. TLC will run out of life quickier if i set it as swap disk.

And that's the only reason swap disks are recommended on traditional hard drives instead of TLC as there is lots of I/O stuff going on SWAPS especially if you are on windows the pagefile will juice it hard out of TLC sure the performance will be slower with HDD but your TLC life will be prolonged!
