Alternative to OneProvider

Hello

First of all I would like to thank all the members who replied to my previous thread: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/181933/suggest-vps-provider-for-hosting-downloader-bots-for-telegram - special thanks to @adwsislife

We are facing a weird issue with oneprovider (https://oneprovider.com/dedicated-servers/paris-france) - We rented around 12 servers from them on monthly basis from the Clearance Deals section and the price range for all the servers were in between $13 to $20.

Now the issue is out of these 12 servers, 3 or 4 servers have very slow upload speed but great download speed and 1 server has both slow upload and download - Our bots are content downloader bots and I am referring to the speed that we are getting within the bot.

For these issues, we opened few support tickets with them and got following reply:

Hello,

To escalate this issue to the on-site, please boot your server in RESCUE MODE and provide the output of an iperf , speedtest-cli and MTR tests:

MTR:

  • From remote/problematic

  • mtr -c 100 -rn {server IP}

  • From your server:
mtr -c 100 -rn

speedtest-cli:

wget -O speedtest https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sivel/speedtest-cli/master/speedtest.py #download speedtest-cli

chmod +x speedtest #allows the file to be executed

./speedtest #runs the test

Ethtool:

• ethtool eth0

or

• ethtool eno1

Thank you for coming back to us.

our reply:

Thank you for requesting the test results. I have attached the results for your review. Unfortunately, the speed test wouldn't work for all of the servers, but I have included other tests that I ran for your review.

If you have any further questions or would like me to run additional tests, please let me know and I will be happy to assist.

their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for your patience and the result.

We don't see any issue from our end with the test provided.

Please note that the server is on a shared network, thus we cannot guarantee the minimum bandwidth performance you will obtain. It may depend on the average network load, peak time, services running on the server and such. With that said, you are indeed on a 1Gbps network but are "limited" due to the shared policy which will not provide a dedicated 1Gbps network performance.

I’m looking forward to your reply.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have further questions.

our reply

I understand that the servers are on a shared network, but the server I'm referring to is significantly slower when uploading than other servers with the same configuration, which is why I'm requesting that you look into it; I have no other issues with these servers other than the low upload speed.

their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

We are sorry for the delay.

Once again the iperf3 test you shared with us shows you are getting at least 586 Mbps in upload which is a normal speed in a such shared network environment.

Please note the data center accepts iperf3 tests towards their iperf server only.

The fact your other servers get better speed just means your neighbours in those racks are not so active as in the one where the server in question is located.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have further questions.

We can understand what they are saying, but we are also getting low speeds in our bots. Hence, We have decided not to renew all the servers that are giving slow speeds in our content downloader bots and we are looking for alternate provider for them.

Can you please suggest any other provider. If you want any other information, then please comment

Thanks

P.S: Some servers are working great and gives us excellent download/upload speed. So we are renewing them on regular basis.

  • Getting good servers from oneprovider.com is purely luck :joy:
if servers are not good, just leave them.
If server is good, renew them.
I bought 20+ servers (spreading across my 2 years usage) and kept discarding each server after one month until I get what I needed.

Another thing to look for while buying servers from oneprovider.com is CPU.
    It matters a lot.
Low grade/weaker cpu has lots of I/O wait.
Most of servers with 3.0GHz+ CPU will give you good download and upload speeds.
3 of my friends have this server and they are pushing 3TB/day upload (seeding)

we bought exactly this server - 3 of them and they are the one which are giving issues.

anyway I have read your DM as well. Our budget is very less for OVH and Hetzner

    Thanks for replying
