I wonder what kind of looks I would get if I walked down to the fruit store and asked them if they had any Grassberrys.

They will tell you go and buy more racknerd VMs.

Only after they see me wearing my RackNerd t-shirt every time I walk in there for the next year.

Very impressed, last time I was wearing a DiscuzQ t-shirt, they asked me if I worked at Tencent... So, can I wear a RackNerd t-shirt next time and be asked if I work at RackNerd?

  • So many posts, I thought there's a giveaway

One of the times I wore my Rolling Stones t-shirt a girl asked me " Are you with the band ? " Of course I said yes. I was with a band at the time, it was just not The Rolling Stones obviously.

Hong Kong seems like it has some nice scenery. Is the weather as radical as I have heard ?
Figured you would know since you run out doors a lot. :)

Actually the weather in Hong Kong is quite nice, except the fact that it could be a bit unberable during the apex of summer, when we have high temperature + humidity.

In contrast, I would say the weather here is quite moderate - you won't be either too cold or too hot. The lowest we can have is around 6 degree celcius while the highest is 35 or 6.

On the plus side, we are exempted from most of the natural disaster, such as earthquake and hurricane.

HongKong is a city or is like a state of many cities?

I guess I got that wrong then as I though you were in Hong Kong. Where are you located ?

    Taiwan maybe.

  • Mid-party question cause it's the type of fun I am (and probably half of you, don't deny it!) -- are fail2ban defaults good enough?

I heard that fail2ban had performance issues, long time ago. Do you really need fail2ban?

When will your Los Angeles DC2 be available

Hi @haolun -- Los Angeles DC-02 is currently available for the 2.5 GB KVM VPS and 4 GB KVM VPS packages that are part of these New Year deals :)

thanks. Which region of your country has low host load

Hi @haolun -- we monitor all of our host nodes across our different regions closely to ensure of high performance, and overall all of our locations are very solid :) Of course, from time to time there may be bumps on the road, but we are actively monitoring our infrastructure 24x7 and RackNerd is renowned for providing reliable services that are production ready. We were in fact voted by the LowEndTalk community as the #1 Top Provider + #1 Most Professional Provider :)

By the way, you'll never want to pick a provider based on a proposed "low load", as that may fluctuate over time or may that change for many factors outside of your control down the road. So instead you'd want to pick a provider based on reputation - i.e. good reviews, historically has provided consistently good service, competent and fast support response times, etc.

Another important factor to consider is where you (or the majority of your audience) are geographically located to provide you with the best latency. So you'd want to look at our Looking Glass in order to determine which location serves you best, and pick that location. I'll include our Looking Glass links below for your reference.

    Looking Glass / Network Test:

    Los Angeles, CA http://lg-lax02.racknerd.com/
    San Jose, CA http://lg-sj.racknerd.com/
    Seattle, WA http://lg-sea.racknerd.com/
    Dallas, TX http://lg-dal.racknerd.com/
    Chicago, IL http://lg-chi.racknerd.com/
    Buffalo, New York http://lg-ny.racknerd.com/
    Piscataway, New Jersey http://lg-nj.racknerd.com/
    Atlanta, GA http://lg-atl.racknerd.com

    thanks very good

I honestly don't know, I haven't used it. But I managed to snag a KS-1 and trying to get it set up, that's what their docs suggested. So far I've changed root pw, changed ssh port, made a non-root user for ssh, disabled root login via password. Their guide has docs about fail2ban and firewalls next, which I'm new to setting up.

Just to be clear. I was never a member of the Rolling Stones. She just thought I was because I look like a rock star and was wearing the t-shirt.
