VPS with Remote Desktop enabled, if that connectivity is allowed.

Well in my previous job, pretty much everything was locked down but sites like browserstack, sauce labs etc were allowed and one could easily spin up a remote browser and open whatever sites they wanted without violating any security policies. Back in the day they had very generous free trial quotas.

    From ChatGPT

The Therac 25 machine was a medical radiation therapy device that was used in the 1980s. It was designed to deliver high-energy X-ray beams to treat cancerous tumors. However, several incidents occurred where the machine malfunctioned and delivered excessive doses of radiation to patients, leading to severe injuries and even death. These incidents were caused by a combination of design flaws and operator errors. The manufacturer, Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, and the regulatory bodies responsible for overseeing the safety of medical devices were criticized for failing to adequately address the problems with the Therac 25.

A race condition between the input and the movement of the beam target would mean the difference between 100 rem and 100,000 rem.

    Terrifying shit.

    Well R.I.P

Although radiation affects different people in different ways, it is generally believed that humans exposed to about 500 rem of radiation all at once will likely die without medical treatment. Similarly, a single dose of 100 rem may cause a person to experience nausea or skin reddening (although recovery is likely), and about 25 rem can cause temporary sterility in men

Yeah, so they'll blast a cancer with around 400 rems in a very small focused beam in these treatments. When the error happens, they deliver 1000 times the dose to the same area, pretty much game over from there.

    The killer you can't see.

1024 would be kind of an odd number.
