Yeah, its really hard to use up the bandwidth... The VM I won and now hosts the stats page has used 20.5 GB of 2.9 TB during the last 8 days (I am already impressed, that so much traffic is going there). GZIP is enabled, I know that the chart is almost 3MB already, but gzipped its only 217kB... One page load is only 18kB from the server, all other stuff is from external hosts (images, js, css)...

My scraper and website has used 13.87GB over the past month, and that's not including the other things I run on it!

Is it really the chart that uses so much bandwidth? :) I didn't check the logs really if users use it so much or not :)

    Master of numbers.

How many of them could use all of the bandwidth?

I will ask for double once I submit the assignments, I will not use the bandwidth, or even the sever, but I will ask for it.

Yeah, I wonder how many people actually utilize the extra bandwidth haha
I haven't even gotten to 10% of my BW limit!

If RN allowed torrents etc, that would’ve made sense especially for those from countries with strict censorship. I think most people ask for it because it’s free

    I think RN allows BT.

People refreshing nonstop for new giveaways lol

Hmm, my prediction that we would reach 2.5M views on Friday is still on track... ;)

Psttt... I don't know if you are also using the json for your stats page, but... I have a feeling, that json view is also counting to the total views. That would mean... we could run an infinite loop on all idling servers and could quickly increase the view count :)

Anyway it’s pretty easy to manipulate the view count if someone really wants to.

But manipulation can only be done one way :) You can't reduce the counter :D

True can’t reduce but if increasing is the only goal then it should be ok

The chart uses 217kB which you mentioned, but if you really want, you can optimize it and not include user avatar, should save you another few kB haha

What if I want to slowly subtract the view count, to make it seem like we're advancing but very very slowly? 😈

My idea was to show the icon above each bar in the chart, then the chart would be much cooler, but it didn't work out with chartjs, so scrapped this idea (for now, maybe future iterations of the page [I am pretty sure RN will host a new spam thread again] I will find out the way). So yes, some bandwidth would get a lot smaller, but still, thinking about 18+217kB (lets say every refresh also loads the chart) is only 235kB, and I have already used up 20GB... Ok, initial setup, lets drop 2GB... Ok, lets drop 5GB... Still, 15GB... That would be 60k views during 8 days... Do you guys really refresh so much on the stats page?

Yes. But mostly everything interesting on public trackers are pirated stuff that are DMCA magnets

It depends... Logical way would be to use long for storing the views count. Then you would need to have somewhere 2^64 requests in a short period of time to deal with long overflow :D I guess, LET server, even if it would be the best dedi possible, would not handle that much :D

Have you ever downloaded any DMCA-protected files? I don't RN care about that unless they got the report/

60k views is a lot, maybe something's a bit off? My site has only gotten 178 views haha

LET server handled BF/CM really well, so it must be able to handle 2^64 requests at once right? 😆

  • Can I get double bandwidth too? Invoice 4964749

Yep, something is off... One page load with the chart is 6 requests to my server.

    wc -l access.log.1
    627 access.log.1

Its like 100 views yesterday. So I guess, I have a bit more views than you have, but still, nowhere near 60k views in 8 days :)
