  • Hello, I would like to double the bandwidth.
    Order: 4398840717
    Thanks!

    Exactly, DIY is the way

You do lose the ability to control it while not connected to the same network unless you expose it publicly which can cause issues with security (just like IoT devices!), but it’s definitely safer overall.

Yeah but then i want a server anyways... smh

Haha, yea it isn’t worth getting one if you’re already planning to get a server. Have you decided on the specs yet?

the ryzen build i showed would be sick, but the mobo is full size ATX, so might go for intel :/

As long as they are in isolated network, how comes they are IoT for smarthome :)

All of my smart switches, lights, etc are connected to a separate network so that if one of them gets compromised, it doesn’t affect the main network that all our non-IoT devices are connected to.

How effective is the separation..is it at hardware level ?

my stuff wont be connected to internet, so nothing to get compromised... zigbee is not wifi

As a heads up, we posted this scheduled maintenance yesterday (which will be starting today in approximately 2.5 hours from now). Client services are not affected :)

RackNerd's website will be undergoing scheduled maintenance at the following timeframe:

Maintenance Start Date: November 23, 2022
Maintenance Start Time: 11:00 AM PST

Scope of Work: We will be upgrading our underlying infrastructure that empowers our website (racknerd.com) and client portal (my.racknerd.com) due to the surge of traffic and demand. Our website and client portal features may be unavailable for up to 30 minutes during this time.

Absolute nightmare. It is my version of digitally haunted house.

It’s pretty convenient for lazy people like me when I’m in bed and don’t want to get up to turn the lights off 😆

That is just how a automatic house is. I think "smart" is somehow beyond.
