@DeadlyChemist @MooCowGalaxy thanks, I missed that option (and it's 1$/IP in US and 2$/IP in Europe)

The pricing is actually really good, I can’t state this enough! Most other providers charge $2-3/ip/month for US locations too.

on my bucket list is to own an ip adress/block, but it's heeeeella difficult

Yeah, I'm glad @dustinc started one of his famous Black Friday threads a few years ago.
I won a VPS then and I was surprised how stable it was (no downtime, no reboot for the whole year). Now I'm having more VPS with them and the same holds.
Support was also supportive and responded fast.
I've been using other affordable providers over the years and RN turned out best.

I know it’s possible to rent a /24 for some $70/mo. but for actually buying it, it must be really expensive right?

    iirc 2-3k

Yeah that’s a pretty big investment! I don’t think I’ll ever buy one to own, maybe I’ll rent one in the future if I ever need 253 ips for whatever reason 😆

i randomly found them 2-3 years ago bought a US server and never used it...
2 years ago another company fucked me over here
so i bought that NL VPS and it's been really good... collected 2 upgrades for it and hope for more one day (maybe even this BF haha)

and well now, i moved basically everything to RN

I have 1 windows server but RN does not have any in NL so rip
and i have 1 lifetime hosting (made thread on it aswell)

well plus if you buy you need company and whatthefuck not

i just wanna have it one day, i'd make higher end VM's vpns and give to my buddies for matching adresses haha

That’s great to hear! RackNerd is basically one of the best providers I’ve used short of Vultr or DO but much, much cheaper.

i had more downtime on oracle than i did on racknerd which is ridiculess

That sounds fun! I did a bit of research just now and it costs $250/year in fees to get a /44 block of IPv6, which is also a pretty big cost.
For IPv4, the cheapest /24 block that was sold in an auction was $10,940, which is an insane price tag at $42.73/IP!!

I haven’t claimed my free tier oracle VMs, I probably should do that soon

oh... the price went up then XD yeah maybe in 20 years... but in 20 years they cost even more

i need real machine more than vps lately, usb over network does not work that great

What things are you running that requires a USB? I’ve never heard of USB over network, if the latency is low enough it could have some useful applications!

Last I saw it was getting over $40 per IPv4 for blocks smaller then a /17.

You also need to pay $150 a year for each address block and each ASN to ARIN (or similar).

Yeah, these are expensive. I wonder how some companies sustain themselves with renting /24s for only $70/mo.

maybe one day in distant future, it would be cool to actually own a piece of history (also fuck ipv6)
