Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5120 CPU @ 2.20GHz bad?

ArkasArkas Member, Retired Moderator

What's your experience with:
Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5120 CPU @ 2.20GHz ?
is it too slow for day to day average work load? I have an option of using a 4X vCPU but do not have any experience with it, or any of the Gold series.

    Good CPU.
If is good or bad will depend on the needs vs budget.
vCPU in Cloud offerings and VPS, is just threads. Are they dedicated threads or shared?

Anything XEON and not super old, is great. That CPU is 2017 which is ideal.
    Enterprise grade hw.

    Thanks.

  • What's the price and the other resources specs included?

$11, 16GB RAM, 220 GB SSD. I don't require too much storage, so that's fine by me.

  • $11/mo, for those Specs, thats GOLD dude.

    Thank you!

  • 4x dedicated 5120, 16GB RAM + 220GB SSD for $11 is god-tier offer.
    Catch while you can

Seems too inexpensive. Less than cost? Unsustainable? 😸

    Exactly.

    He said ”vCPU dedicated”.

A vCPU could be 1/4 of a core.

So in reality it could mean 1 dedicated core.

    Or am I wrong?

    Might be.

Not married. I sold one night of companionship for some 512 MB VPS stock.

All he wanted to do was dance around in his towel.

7/10, would redo for more stock.

  • I'd have done it for 256MB.
