Some apartments only have Comcast, as the company that owns the apartments has some sort of exclusivity deal with Comcast. At the apartment building I lived at, Comcast would host parties with free food to try and convince people to sign up for more Comcast services ("already have internet? we can add cable TV too!").

A sign they have too much margin.

Yeah. It's amusing that their prices can just magically drop as soon as another cheaper provider rolls out in the same area. I used to live in Mountain View and Comcast's prices would be cheaper depending on if you lived in an area that had AT&T service available. <_<

Technically it's not a monopoly at the apartment, as I can install a satellite dish on the balcony and get some slow, high latency satellite service
(according to FCC rules, landlords can't prevent tenants from installing their own antenna or satellite dish in areas that are not common areas and are part of the apartment, like a balcony or patio)

I see internet speeds are developing really fast.
I remember that my uncle that lives in Connecticut had Comcast and ~10years ago he told me he has like 8Mbps upload and traffic limit on top of that. I was like wtf, traffic limit? In Poland there was no point where we had traffic limit and we have 1Gbps symmetrical from many many years at like $13/mo with WiFi6 router included.
Nice that network is improving so fast in US. Even in mobile, now you have nice 5G with mmWave in big cities. Compare this 3G days with this all CDMA vs GSM shit haha

I moved to the USA in 2013 and had... 500Mbps I think? This was amazing to me, coming from Australia where my internet connection was "up to 24Mbps" (in reality it was around 10-14Mbps for me). Even today, a lot of Australians still have speeds less than 100Mbps. Some people can get ~250Mbps but many can't.

Australia's internet was supposed to be fixed by the National Broadband Network (NBN), a country-wide data network. They changed plans from FTTP (fiber to the premises) to FTTN (fiber to the node), reusing old phone and coax cables for the last mile. This was cheaper initially, but has a far higher maintenance cost and is much less reliable (those old cables are close to EOL, if not past EOL). Not sure what they're doing these days.

I have EPYCMO-3 from the "Premium KVM sale" i.e. $20/3months.
Since I got one 9999 EPYC at MO, I want to transfer it.
The renewal date is 1/1/2023. Still, 2.5 months are left. If you need a VPS for a short duration, you can get it by paying $10+paypal fee. If anyone is interested, I can create a new thread for service transfer.

I would have taken this... but luckily I also grabbed a 9999 MO VPS.

Test IP and test files for every datacenter are available here
    https://greencloudvps.com/data-centers.php

Although GreenCloud should tell you if these offers are at DC1 or DC2 :) @NDTN can you tell?

All offers so far have been in Singapore DC2 as far as I've seen.
